Do You Think Prince Is Ashamed Of His Past?

He refuses to talk about his past, has become a strict JW(forgiveness) and he definatly has toned himself down since his young and dumb days,.....

Just think what his reaction would be if he was interviewed live on Mtv, and a fan asked him about "sister", or one of his "camel toe" pics was shown.

I personally think he shouldn't be, but everyone is hyper-sensitive to they own self.

just a question.

nod .. Of course he is. By not answering to it means it never existed (in his mind). This is how Prince mind works nod

It's one thing to lie to others, but to lie to yourself? nuts

.

I think at times he can be. Especially with The Black Album and other momments in his career.

But for the most part, I think his ego is so healthy that they end up being nothing but minor regrets. Kind of like , you regretting having publicly farted once in gym class or something like that--they don't occupy your everyday thinkng, but they're not exactly memories you're proud of.

Prince is not ashamed of enything from his wild past. His ego and pride is to big that. He still has a F. U. attitude. He uses the Jehovah's Witness thing for shock.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Aren't we all ashamed of some things in our past? Prince IS a human and I'm willing to bet that he's no different.

The decor of Paisley Park is an indication that he is not ashamed of his past (and that he has awful taste lol ).

Anyone who is deeply sorry about their past sins are not request to talk about them if they don't want to. Let Prince keep his shame to himself.

i think that maybe about some things in his past, like all of us. but i don't like his JW phase, nothing against JW, but i don't like him involved in something so strict, i prefer his old "free spirituality" than him inprisoned in a lot of rules.

He doesn't have anything to be ashamed of career-wise (well post mid-90s, maybe! wink )

As for his life, who knows, who cares.

You know he made that statement in a interview I would think he meant at the time besides why would anyone confess their sins in a managzine interview(LOL)

If he has personal issues I am sure he would deal with them in a private manner and not really concern himself with the public thinks.

I was with you on the first part, but the JW thing being a shock. I don't think so. Either in Entertainment Weekly or one of something I read on MSNBC,they asked him about his past and he said he did not regret. He was a young man. His thing is I was young, I did what I wanted to do and now that I am older, I done did it all and now I just want to settle down and be with one person.

I noticed that he's not harsh on his past like Vanity is and I don't think you should be. Forget about what you did along time ago. Move forward, but don't judge other folks who are doing now what you once did.

Ok, for the record.. the reason that Vanity is harsh on the past is that:

- she became a serious crackhead
- she had more than a few brushes with death
- She almost went blind, she lost a kidney and has to suffer dialysis treatment to this day

All of which is why she became an evangelical. I know it's kind of freaky to her her espouse her newfound beliefs, and with such fervor.

However, I think if anyone's misspent youth yielded similar results, s/he'd be well within his/her rights to express regrets. It'd be kinda crazy not to.

johng....u r soooo striking chords with B....when u lie, the 1st person u must lie 2 is yourself!!!!! xenevra6 i feel u on the JW thing; not one 2 criticize a person's way of Believing yet 4 Prince 2 say he embraces this doctrine didn't seem 'authentic': Prince just never seemed like the kind that would let someone else tell him how God is-thought his view was wider than the JW perspective....perhaps n 2005 he'll reflect he's processed(another) new truth cool

Changing lyrics and censoring his own music says the answer is yes. But he's not as obesessed about that stupidity lately so maybe not as much as before.

A few years ago Prince told Oprah that his past was all part of his structure and if you took it away the foundation would fall. Prince was much more tame back then but he wasn't the religious fanatic that he is now.

I already know her record of what she has been through. I would regret doing crack for many years like she had too, because the result was her losing her kidneys. That I understand. She really puts herself down for her past and is too harsh on herself and I don't think she should be so hard on herself.

She should think about this: If she hadn't have had that wild past, maybe she would'nt be where she is today: An evangelist. I am proud of her and I'm sorry she almost had a brush with death, but that is how life is with some people and them finding God. Some people find the Lord without hitting rock bottom or anything and some have to go to the final limits until they get the message that I need God in my life. Vanity was one of them. There is nothing wrong with expressing regrets, but once you've done something in your past, it's done. Just concentrate on the future and the positive things you are doing. Concentrate on the NOW.

Prince is,without a doubt, ashamed of his passed but as soembody else says, he is so wrapped up in his own little world that he honestly doesnt see that teh past is where his fans have come from. If he was a new artist today he wouldnt stand out at all - imagine Musicology or ONA was a debut...he'd be laughed out of town

Prince has never really seemed all that interested in discussing his past.

I've always thought that his personality was just more into what he was doing currently or his future plans. One of the reasons we have so much music is due to his short attention span.

nod It's not strictly that the JW thing is weird -it could've been any organized religion and it would seem weird. I just can't comprehend how anyone -especially someone who seemed as strong-minded as Prince did -could let someone else tell him who God was.
