would have been better if prince took those master tapes of the
"new power soul"album and dropped them into lake minnetonka.
his most un-funky sessions to date me thinks.

That'd be good. Just take off a few NPS songs on there. Like, oh I don't know, every single fucking one.

Well, except maybe Wasted Kisses.

Exodus is an incredibly funky album while NPS is a pile of piss
i honestly cant remember the last time i blew the dust off of it and stuck it in my wreckaplaya.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

This wasn't the most interesting period in P's career, but I created a disc I called "The Paisley Sessions" and consisted of the best tracks on his albums with Chaka and Larry G, and his own:

1. Come 2 My House
2. Free
3. Hair
4. Wasted Kisses
5. Utopia
6. Push it up
7. Betcha
8. Come On
9. Groove On
10. I'll never B another fool
11. The One
12. I remember U

It woulda been tight only if the NPG band that played Exodus also played NPS. NPS would have been better off with a band effort instead of studio work.

Replace I Like Funky Music with Count The Days and Hallucination Rain with When U Love Somebody and I´ll agree with you smile ..but actually I really like a lot of songs from both albums...

I'll be the first to admit that shit like Shoobedooh and Freaks On This Side is awful...

But New Power Soul, Mad Sex and The One are better than anything on Musicology.

Spookily, that was the original intention.

The idea was that a 'sister' album to Exodus called 'New Power Soul' was going
to be made available direct from 1-800-NEW-FUNK a few months after the Exodus'
release. It was going to feature some of the tracks that didn't make it onto
Exodus coupled with a few radical remixed/reworked tracks too. It's a shame
this didn't happen cuz it would've been way better than the released
'Newpower Soul'.

I've done that same thing.
I like the idea of Chaka & Larry & Prince
coming together to form a super group.
Just when I do a list there is less of
Larry's songs & more Prince & Chaka.
