How many Musicology CDs were actually SOLD, not given away How many Musicology CD's were actually "sold"? Not given away.
I know Prince says they were "sold" because the price was added into the concert tickets but anybody with marketing skills knows this is not true. The tickets sold were average Prince concert ticket prices anyway and you can see how much he saved on the concert CDs packaging over the actual sold in store Musicology CD's. Do you think the same amount of CDs would have been sold if the recorded sales, of people would have actually physically bought them from a record store themselves, online,etc.? | |

well i know that his total was 1.9 million.....he did say that Columbia is upset with him because they still haven't sold a million yet. I believe I read somewhere that the attendance was like 1.3 million...so that leaves about 600,000 sold via retail. This is just a guess but just think if he didn't give it away he probely would have sold atleast a million via retail. - Prime Prime aka The Kid

Keep in mind that a lot of ppl paid for it online too though. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

where does it say Columbia is upset with Prince?? I was reading a interview with Prince and he said it with a laugh. I believe it was in Entertainment weekly. Prime aka The Kid
