(Extended Version) In leu (sp?) of these "best this and that" threads, I thought I'd ask this more "extensive" question...
are all extended versions of singles better than album versions/edits? This obviously excludes unreleased music, ie. "Computer Blue" and Remixes. the likes of "Glam Slam" included. Monikers (sp?) are a bit misleading, since "Thieves In The Temple" was labelled a (remix), but was actually extended. Same with "Come On" and so forth. If you have heard it, then you should know the difference. I, for one, prefer the "Kiss (Extended Version)" over the single or album version. I like all of the extended versions, actually. Even the "My Name Is Prince (Original Mix Edit)" The extension from the source is always the best!!!!! "Whatever skin we're in

It was just the question of weather(sp?) you dig these extended versions or not, cuz my girl got irate(sp?) this evening when I was blarin' the 10 minute "I Would Die 4 U" (she said it was too long) EVERY song could be longer!!! except, maybe, "Lemon Crush" "Whatever skin we're in

I prefer all the extended versions of the 1980s over the album versions except for "America". I have no problem with "America" being so long but damn, it never switches up. You can put the needle anywhere on the record past the album version and it sounds the same.
As for the 1990s to the present, I prefer the album versions. The remixes stray too far from the original versions. Andy is a four letter word. | |

As much as I love these two songs, I actually prefer the album versions of "Shockadelica" and "G-Spot" (Jill Jones). In fact, I didn't really appreciate "G-Spot" at first, because I became acquainted with the song via the extended version, which meanders and overstays its welcome IMO. | |
