Prince and the old NPG days

Back around 91-93 when Prince and the NPG were all acting all pimp/gansta like what did you think of it? I mean compared to those who became fans of Prince during his more sensitive, Purple Rain image it must have been quite a shock to see Prince acting all "Yo' whaz up baby" in his pimp daddy jumpsuits. This is first when I became a die hard fan so I guess that time really doesn't bother me that much and I thought the music was slammin'.It just seems kinda funny from people like "Oh Prince is sooo gay!" and acting more quiet and cryptic and then him acting more like a macho pimp daddy. Did you find it a tad bit annoying even if the music was good? Or did you feel the image went perfectly with his music at the time?

Watching Prince be anything other than Prince has always been and will always be annoying. I liked the Diamonds and Pearls and prince albums a lot and the clothes weren't all that bad on the Act 1 tour when I seen them in L.A. but the Sexy M.F. video and the 3 Chains O' Gold mini movie thing was pretty bad and cringe worthy.
