At first I thought it was the end of the world, the coming of the Lord. Then he did the Gold Experience and apparently the dawn happened. He never mentioned it again. So I have no idea.

Yeah, it was always a reference to the afterlife, or reaching some sort of higher spiritual place. Then he changed it all around when he had the problem with Warner Bros and he turned "the dawn" into a reference of his freedom from them. Kind of strange because in twenty years time when people are looking back, "the dawn" years (1993-2000) will be looked upon as "the dark" years as many people didn't get to hear his music due to his new freedom from record companies. I guess it's one of those "damned if you do, damned if you dont" scenarios!
