Most of BATMAN is pretty terrible for a popular movie.
Half of ATWIAD and GB are pop treacle. Never bought RAVE IN2 or UN2 cuz I feared these would be terrible pop. EMANCIPATION is often boring pop. KAMSUTRA is newage pop. think see a trend here test

Prince Controversy Batman Graffiti Bridge Symbol Chaos and Disorder New Power Soul The Vault Rave un2 the joy fantastic Okay, so that's A LOT of albums but they all have cool tracks on them, they're just his most inconsistent. That's the ebbs and flows of artistry tho', No-one gets it right all the time. Sounds like you only go for the mainstream pop friendly albums. Dirty Mind 1999 Around the world in a day Parade The Black Album Come Crystal Ball The Truth I wouldn't consider any of these particularly pop friendly. Hahaha. y does it even matter. we wouldn't know that they were r least favorites if we would not have already bought them. everybody got paid.
i don't care what the album, there is always 1 good song on every album if anything u know. i guess the 1 i listen 2 the least is For YOu. it was his freshman attempt, so we can't expect magic, people. i totally disagree w/ those who put or Emancipation. those r the 1s i tend 2 listen 2 the most!!!! & i'd never say anything is "BEST" or "worst". that's just kind of harsh. most favored or least favored is more PC If I Could B Muse 2 the Pharaoh...

1) TRC
2) New Power Soul 3) Chaos and Disorder 4) Rave in2 or un2 (take your pick) Emancipation was the last great cd, such a shame ---------------------------------
Funny and charming as usual

New Power Soul has to be the worst followed by Rave. But yet, there is at least a couple songs on each that I like.
"The Greatest Romance" Remix with Eve was too fonky!! And "Come on" was fonky as well. If Prince wanted to...I believe he could put out an album that would tear up the billboard charts. But he is in a different place musically and likes to be different. Love God and I shall 4ever Love u

It's been cool to read the replies -- they are quite varied. Come, o(+>, The Rainbow Children and The Black Album are some of my favorite Prince albums.
However, there are (of course) some albums I don't particularly care for: Lovesexy -- Prince should have stuck with his original plan, surrendered to the dark side of the force, and released The Black Album instead. The Gold Experience -- IMO, almost a uniformly disappointing release. When my cassette copy snapped years ago while listening to the one song from that collection I really liked ('Shy'), I did not even bother replacing it. Emancipation -- The three-cd set had its high points, but there was also a considerable amount of filler. I hate saying this, but it really applies here: this project could have been whittled down to a kick-ass single cd. Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic -- For me, this release just never gelled. I don't even listen to it anymore. Fortunately, 1999 was not a total loss -- WB released The Vault earlier that year, which I actually liked a lot.

1. Chaos and Disorder
2. Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic ( even the title was bad!)

NPS was not the best but is was good. I listened to it a lot when it came out. I have to admit that my forst reaction to it was a little pale, but it grows on you.
Batman is a great record, it is one of the oddest works that Prince has done, it's really dark and over-all I think it kicks ass Chaos and Disorder is also a great record, the guitar work is awsome, the sense of humor is exellent - and anyone who wants to complain about it should remember that like "the Vault" is was an album put out to fill contractual obligations, Prince didn't even claim that it was anthing more than "orginally intended for private use only" Come - I love that record and crank it all the time Gold - Kick ass record. If it had been combined with Exodus we would've had another masterwork on our hands Graffiti Bridge - Cheesy but the music is great So now, here's my vote. After nearly 20 years of being a Prince fan I was not embarrised or disillusioned or unhappy with any record. Some are better than others, but over all everything the little man has done is worth the time to listen to. But TRC.... it's just lame... I hate it what can I say. I will defend everyother Prince release except that one. I don't listen to it. I've tried but I can't, I put 1+1+1=3 on a comp, and "she loves me for me" is tolerable, but over all. It's crap. It's not Scottish and therefore... you know the rest. AND I TRIED PEOPLE! REALLY I DID!!

I think several factors contribute to these opinions. I just met an 18 year old who loves Rave and has never heard Lovesexy? I'm amazed that young fans still get turned on to Prince. I also think it has to do with where you are at in your life. The Black Album & Lovesexy came out when I was depressed so those albums meant more than anything to me. His last 3 have failed to impress me, but who cares? He's still great! By the way....mad props to Gold Experience (one of his best) and the first side of Graffiti Bridge.

Worst Prince Album by far is New Power Soul....as a matter of fact, the only redeeming song on there is "Wasted Kisses..." and that should have been put on a better album....
If you consider any of the 1980's albums, I would say LoveSexy and only because of te way it is formatted as a continuous track..excellent songs though...

His worst albums??? Hmmm.
Clearly 'New Power Soul' falls in this category, followed closely by 'Symbol' and about half of 'Diamonds and Pearls'. That should clear things up nicely.

you are all sheep. most of the albums you deem his worst you were all wetting your pants over when it dropped. why not admit that instead of saying what is bad.
prince is badass. his material is all good. picture this... you are at a concert and he plays say... 'chaos and disorder' none of you sheep will sit down and say... i don't like that one. why pull it here? sad. sheep. (baaaaa) -- [This message was edited Mon May 6 7:26:44 PDT 2002 by rkriheli]

ATWIAD - sorry I know people love it, but I turned in my "Prince Fan" badge on this one ... It took years for me to return to the fold.. and even now, I still dislike it. To me, it still sounds like Prince trying to do the Beatles. A Bubble Bath with UR Pants On is Better Than No Bubble Bath at All

Chaos and Disorder was a throw away - Twan says?
'Hated it!' COME was uninspired Newpowersoul - I didn't waste the $$$. Got a free listen and moved on. I liked 'For you' because you could still hear some of the Prince Magic in there. "Funk is something you learn in school
