Why Prince should play at the Grammys While the great performance at the RRHOF was certainly a factor, no one event jumpstarted the Prince resurgence like the Grammy performance with Beyonce. Although it seemed average for a lot of us Prince fans (seems we're more partial to the Tonight Show performances), millions and millions of people around the world saw something spectacular, thus creating a Santana-like buzz for months to come. Why not go back and do it again? I'm sure the shirts at the Grammys would let him open again (besides who really wants to see Kanye West do another over the top "Jesus Walks" or Usher mime his way through another one of his Clear Channel #1 songs)? you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

it'd be overkill. | |

I sorta think so too. I mean, he did the Grammys last year, did the RRHOF show, played a sold out year long tour. Why bother this time around? The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

because if he really wants to capitalize on his re-discovered popularity, he needs to do something. the the tour has been over for months, the Grammy's aren't until February. There will more than likely never be another year for him like 2004...a lot of planets lined up for hime to have such a successful year. What bad can come out of hime doing a 5-minute song? Not to mention he is nominated for 5 awards, ummm, don't nominated performers sometimes perform their nominated songs on the show? you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

who's to say that he did all that he did this year for mere popularity? There will more than likely never be another year for him like 2004...
who's to say on this, too? it's totally understandable that those of us within the fanbase wanna see 'im still kickin ass and whatever, but still...over-expose yourself and people will get sick of you real fast. overkill is overkill.

Of course he's never gonna have another year like 2004 because he'll never get inducted into the RRHOF again, and he probably won't be able to ride the upper echelons of the pop charts for as long as he did again with the revision of the concert bundle pack rule. The Musicology tour did not go to all cities and abroad, so a good chunk of his fans and the general public didn't even see the tour. He might want to lay low for a while, heck i don't know...just seems like if the theme of the whole Musicology Tour was to bring the old school to the new school, why not play? you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

You can't ever say he'll "never have another year like 2004..again" because a year ago who would have thought he'd have one of the biggest year's of his career??? No one. Can't count that man out..EVER. I don't think Prince performing at the Grammy's would be overkill, I think it would just be proof that 2004 was no fluke. But he'd have to do some Musicology tracks because a hits medley would be overkill at that point IMO.

of course they perform their hit song BUT he should perform to get another $90 mil pay check and pay himself because he is his own boss

Something of this nature would not be overkill and in some ways would be a nice transition into whatever the man has in store for the future...I would like very much for him to play at the Grammys...hold on...maybe if I call him...

overkill is when they play Usher,Brittney,Hillary and all the other puppets on radio every hour, having Prince perform back to back Grammys surely can't be classed as overkill. He has had one of the best years ever, and i like watching the faces of the new "artists" when they see a real musician up on stage "was i the first, was i your every fantasy"
