Let's Go Crazy "In this life, things are much harder then the afterworld....in this life your on your own"
Is this IN-SIGHT or IS this IN-SIGHT??..... 2 me this is one of the greatest truths PRINCE ROGERS NELSON has ever spoke!

yep, we are all motivated by selfish motives
but if you look further into the song, you'll see Prince saying that spirituality is the answer -- the thing to get you through to that afterworld where things are much better... He's coming!

I love the entire spoken part in Let's Go Crazy.
Don't give me no shortened version With the background guitar chord setting the eerily solemn mood, you get the sense that a revered preacher is handing you a relevation. My favorite part is the line: "instead of asking him how much of your time is left, ask him how much of your mind baby." Whoa. Where did he get that line from? Was he dreaming when he wrote that too? Because it's awesome ... for some, how long you live is irrelevant. What's important is whether you will live or die according to your creeds, beliefs, codes of honor. And if they are in conflict with the society around you, then you are constantly flirting with external tension and internal insanity. And you would rather go crazy than to give in to the world/enemy around you. I love this song, and the spoken intro makes the themes all the more grand. This is what makes rock songs truly great ... when there is this frenzied abandon married with something personally profound.

Is this IN-SIGHT or IS this IN-SIGHT??..... 2 me this is one of the greatest truths PRINCE ROGERS NELSON has ever spoke! But my earlier post digresses. You were talking about one particular truth. Yes, this line is extremely insightful. Was Prince high or what? LOL. I mean our obsession with the Divine in this life is intense, but the reality is we will never know the truth until we're on the other side. That will be a great time to walk with the Creator of the Universe and it will be an easier, more comforting time. But now, we are on our own come what may. And that is tough to deal with ... especially when most relgions prime believers to anticipate rescue. I suspect many homeless, deranged, and otherwise check-out minds are so ruined because they were waiting for a hero that never came. It's one of the greatest illusions, the savior-myth. We are on our own, here. And the sooner people realize that, the stronger, more confident and more transcendent they can become. It's refreshing to relize you have to be your own hero. For some, the relevation never comes though. What are your thoughts on that line, is this the dawn.

I'm here to tell you, I'm at that road. And I would rather walk it with you than walk it alone".
