Prince classics post 2000

what would you consider a Prince classic in last four years?

the only ones i think i'd add to this list would be 1+1+1=3 and possibly Musicology.

what would you consider a post 2000 Prince classic?

I'd have to say "If eye was the man in your life." I love that song. I think people will be talking about it in years to come.

S'bout it. 1+1+1=3 starts brilliantly, but for me it just turns into one of those generic Larry Graham-inspired live jams. Boring

Seriously, there are few, if any classics past 2000.

If anything, Reflection could be. Maybe Tangerine, So Far So Pleased,Baby Knows, Family Name ... in some ways all these reflect a quintessential aspect of Prince.

But without exposure can a song grow into a classic. Most stuff now will likely just fade into obscurity and get no respect ... and when he's 70 on tour he won't play them, just go back to Take me With YOu and Baby I'm a star.

Some of the songs named here just echo old classics (call my name, million days... these are ghosts of past hit songs, not some original sound. But that could be said for some of the ones I've chosen too).

I guess we'll just have to see how kind and redeeming time is to these latest songs.

it's gotta be a hit before it's classic anyway -- otherwise it's just a gem to the few who know
