T-Bird's super-Prince day at the wrecka stow!

OK, so I went to the local wrecka stow (a local indie chain that sells lots of used stuff) today, just to kill time at lunch. They were playing Tears for Fears on the PA, which transitioned into "Kiss" from the VBoP disc (which is on cnn.com's top 50 one-disc greatest hits albums of all time). Anyway, I figured, what the heck, let's go look through the million used copies of Graffiti Bridge and Emancipation to see if anything new's come in.

Oh man, did it come in. Someone had just sold back what looked to be their entire Prince CD singles collection! Here's what I picked up:

for $1.99 each:
"My Name is Prince" (Germany - 4 tracks w/"Sexy Mutha")
"The Holy River" (Australia, w/three remixes of "Somebody's Somebody")
"Space" (US, five tracks, four remixes)
"Pink Cashmere" (Germany, two edits plus "Paisley Park" and "GLAM SLAM")
"The Truth" (b/w "Don't Play Me")

for $3.99 each (this is the really good stuff):
"Letitgo" (Germany - 4 tracks w/ "Alexa de Paris" ext.
"Gold" (w/RNRIA(AILIM) and eye Hate U ext, a gold CD in a solid gold case with prince on the front like the original releases of the, um, prince album)
"Money Don't Matter 2night" (France, with "Push" and "Call the Law" - in a slimline case with a half-sleeve and holographic designs on the CD itself)

I was stoked! I'm still stoked! Granted, I have most of the songs, but to get a huge chunk like that was too good to pass up. I had an Amex gift cert, and the whole thing was only like $22 and some change. In line, this tall dude heard me talking to the clerk about the stash - and the tall dude's wearing a "First Avenue" shirt! He said he's been on the org and NPG before, but isn't going to be back online until Jan. Gave him my e-mail anyway. Cool!

That's my super-funky totally Prince story of the day!

P.S. The CD singles I didn't buy, becaues I already had them, were "NPG," "Thieves in the Temple," "D&P" (with hologram), and five others. Imagine walking up to the racks with all of that sitting there, with guilt-free money to burn! Early personal Christmas baby!

When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air, they act as a prism and form a rainbow. The rainbow is a division of white light into many beautiful colors. Regardless of the day, I'm glad you were born.

wowee! biggrin

that "space" maxi-single is worth the haul all by itself. as prince remix singles go, it's uncharacteristically inspired.

IstenSzek: It has the lyrics, too. Tee Hee! lol

Anxy: I love it! I recognize the "Funky Stuff" from some file-sharing program back in the day, but I'd never heard the "Universal Love" mix. He sings like a long-lost Pointer Sister! It's awesome. booty!

I sold my Truth single last year on ebay. It's just the exact same tracks as the album, right? They are not even radio edits.

Yup, totally the same. I basically spent $1.99 on packaging. If it hadn't have bene part of such a huge stash, I might not have picked it up. I mean, I passed up the 1999/HCUDCMA/D.M.S.R. re-release for $1.99.
