when i was a veritable newbie back in 1984 i chanced upon the steve ivory book.....
all these comparrisons with sly stallone !!!goodness was i a bit confused..watching rambo and thinking hmmmmm well i suppose they are both pretty cool(i was 11!) tho ive never seen p blow any commies away tho he did give apples a good slap!

(actually it was sly stone but when i was 11 id never heard of him and for about 2 years after i was convinced the comparrisons were due to muscular defination )

so just how thick was i!!!

I'll tell you one thing about Stallone-he is under rated. People always cmpare him to Schwarzenegger, but he is a hell of a lot more talented than Arnold. Yes, Stallone has made his share of bad movies. However, he wrote all of the Rocky movies, he directed 3 of them. He often gets pigeonholed as an "action star" (which is his own fault) but he is a much better actor than say Arnold, Steven Segal, Van Damme, Vin Diesel, etc. Watch any of the Rocky movies, First Blood, or Copland. Now try to picture Schwarzenegger in thos roles. He doesn't have the chops.


What this thread has to do with Prince at all? I don't know.

Actually, back in 1985, an annual poll was done to see who was a "hero" to young people, and Sly and Prince were TIED as the fifth most admired person in the U.S.

i'll be an arnie man until i die!!!!! however...sly just as successful as prince?! what?! they've both won oscars...sure...but come on. did sly change the way film was made, and influence a generation of actors from across many genres? nah, didn't think so.

Yes he did actually....."rocky" started perhaps a 1000 sports movies and also practcally invented the blockbuster sequel. Plus Rambo was hugely influential to action movies in the 80's!
