PRINCE LIVE DVD/CD 2/1/05

Well I just got this news from my Job. I work in music retail and this caught my eye on a list of Upcoming releases. PRINCE LIVE CD/DVD release 2/1/05, the list price is 21.98. Another good sign is that it has been assigned a computer number in our system, plus this is two weeks before the Grammies where PRINCE should get something, and might be asked to perform again. There isnt a tracklisting or any other info yet. I dont even know what Label is putiing it out, if its on NPG only, Im guessing its with SONY again though. I dont know if its one cd and one dvd or two cds and a DVD like the last Dave Matthews or the other way around, as soon as i get news i will post.

PEACE

Hope its true.

I like the dvd/cd combo bundle thingy.

2/01/04 is a Tuesday so that makes sense.

I'm believing it.

This makes sense and goes along with the rumor from 3 months ago that the next CD will be the acoustic portion of the show that everyone loved so much. The fact that it is being released with the DVD drives that rumor home even more. Musicology DVD entire show + acoustic set on CD.

Chances are this could be the US release of the SOTT DVD that has been available in Europe and Australia for a few months already.

Hey Mr. Party Pooper wink
What makes you believe that?
Has SOTT been changed to Prince Live?
Was SOTT a cd/dvd combo?

I'm still betting on Musicology Live. razz

Well, I hope so too, but surely we would have heard it from NPGMC first (although going by their track record, probably not!). Check the link that camilleisfunky has posted. It just seems that this is what is going to be released.

Even though its not 100% this is almost without a doubt the Musicology tour on CD/DVD. It all makes sense, the Grammies are right around the corner, Prince is nominated, probably asked to and will perform again and steal another show, and BOOM that generates to sales. CD/DVD sets are Huge now, the NORAH JONES package for one and there are others too. And even though Im sure people dont realize this PRINCE is a smart business man, he knew he would be KING in 2004 and he was right and now he can sit back and let this package keep his name out there till the next work he does, even if it is something low key, his name is out there again.

I doubt this will be SIGN O THE TIMES, the one that has been released overseas can only be released there, I have a copy from Brazil and its terrible, the quality is awful, right off the Video track, I would advise people not to get this. Warner does have the right to release this Product overseas, but as of yet has not and to my knowledge doesnt own the US rights to the film for DVD release. Also WARNER would not release SIGN O THE TIMES on CD AGAIN since it cannot remaster it without PRINCE's authority and he will not allow it until he is given the rights to the masters, so that kills that idea. I do hope that this is THe Musicology tour, mainly the acoustic set, Im sure he will throw in the Noteable songs from Purple Rain for buyers who went to the tour and want hits. So this all makes alot of sense, especially Business sense, I dont know who is behind the release, but since it was put on this New Release list I saw, Im sure its SONY because Re-issues and indie releases rarely get this advance notice.

I bet this will be from the Madison Square Garden show with Sheila E. and The Time. But it would be great if he did something like Pearl Jam's "Touring Band" and had not just one concert but one song from each concert on the tour. I just want to see him cover "Bustin' Loose" again.

Im guessing the MSG show with SHELIA E will have something on there, that show was amazing and was filmed perfectly, he played it at the afterparty at BB kings. I saw 24 shows on this tour so Im sure I will get something i was at smile

I sure hope this is true, because I called 2 record stores a week ago about this, because I also heard the date 2/1/05 tossed around a month ago and both 'Sam Goody and FYE (For your entertainment)' told me, that there was no release date set as of yet and their computers had no info on any upcoming Prince releases including dvds!

So lets hope this is true!

*LastDecember...what store or company do you work for if you don't mind me asking?
Because no one knows anything about this release date and neither has NPGMC announced anything yet!

I don't know about this Live DVD but that would not be a surprise. How come such a major tour seen by more than 1.5 million people not end up on a dvd ? Moreover someone else who works in the retail industry has mentionned this a few weeks ago and had the same release date.

Moreover and this is not some crap rumor. There is nothing to get really too excited about as we know how Prince can change his mind quickly regarding projects anyway. Prince has recorded a full session with Michael Bland and Sony T back in november. It was a mix of songs and instrumentals.

Michael B and Sony T were in Minneapolis on tour with Michel Portal when Prince contacted them to get in the studio with them.

Prince has told them he wanted to finish this new cd off by himself, release it asap and take a break. It does not mean it will be released eventually of course !

It is apparently the second time in two years they record something together. The first time nothing was released. So let's stay calm !

hate to burst any bubbles here, but, every release date you read here is purely
speculation.there is nothing set for release anytime soon, more importantly,
prince did not record anything recently with michael b & sonny t.that is a rumour concocted by a fan with a 1994 fixation sad
these rumours start up everytime there is a prince "dry spell".never fails!
makes for good fantasy though!
