Purple Rain or TGE, in my humble opinion.

The Gold Experience would probably be the definitive one. Purple Rain's got a few extended tracks (Computer Blue, etc.) that have great guitar solos...

i was hopin he had an album of just pure solos, or somethin. cuz when i have to tell someone what a great guitarist he is i usually have to go through 4-5 albums to show 7-8 great examples.

1999 has a few good bits on it.
The solo in Lady Cab Driver and the rhythm guitar in DMSR are pretty cool.
If i show people Prince for the guitar playing it's usually the Lovesexy videos. Amazing all the way through.

I believe it was Eric Clapton who said SOTT was the best guitar album he's ever heard. It was around '93 or '94 and Eric said he still couldn't figure out how P did what he did on that album.

I think that "The Golden Experience" is a great album "guitarly" speaking.
Don't you guys love the guitar in "Crazy You"?

ONA live is quite clearly the best Prints guitar record - live, without horrible tinny overproduction (eg the Gold Experience), and taking on all the styles he's famous for cool

Definitely 'The Undertaker'. None of his other albums sound anything like it. It's practically one long guitar solo. Plus it has "Bambi" and a cover of "Honkey Tonk Women" on it.

eric clapton NEVER EVER SAID :SOTT was the best guitar album he's ever heard. It was around '93 or '94 and Eric said he still couldn't figure out how P did what he did on that album.

eric did say that PURPLE RAIN IS HIS FAVOURITE SONG.

Guitar solos on sign o the time are nothing special.eric clapton can do guitar solo's from sign o the times anytime,
eric clapton played muh much better guitar solo's then those on sign.

in fact prince had much better guitar solos on his albums before sign o the times.

From what I remember of the article, Eric wasn't talking about the solos, he was talking about all of the intricate little things P did with the guitar on that album. I don't remember what magazine it was in, but the main story, and the headline of that particular mag was an interview with Eric, Joe Satriani, I believe Steve Via, and there was one other. They were asked what albums would people be surprised with how good the guitar work was on it, or something like that. Eric mentioned SOTT, and Joe backed him up on it.

Any album that came out between 1987-1990, but particurly Lovesexy, for it being so rock heavy, and Batman, for it being a kind of continuance of the sound that came out in Lovesexy.

Dirty Mind definitely got the best guitar-riffs ...
He just bought the Hohner, and he surely loved to play this new guitar.

So ... Dirty Mind has the coolest guitar-riffs Prince ever played ...

But if you’re into the slow and slick guitar solo’s ... buy TGE, or something else from the 90’s.
