I just got the Lovesexy CD and I put it into my computer to rip all th songs into my MP3 collection of Prince songs...and it said the CD ONLY HAD 1 SONG AND THAT IT WAS 45:03 LONG. What is the deal? Why are all the songs put onto one track? Is it like this on everydoies CD's?

Yes, although I don't see it as a problem. I think it is how Prince wanted the album released originally. I think someone posted on a different thread that you can now purchase Lovesexy tracked (perhaps in Europe only).

I have a tracked copy of lovesexy.... I bought it in the UK about 5 years agao or something. I dunno if they are still produced tracked or not, or whether they are produced at all for that matter...

That's Prince being Prince. He knew he only had one hit but he wanted everyone to have to listen to the whole record instead of just Alphabet Street. This may have worked because alot of people ended up loving the whole cd.

Lovesexy is one track because it should be listened to in complete. You can't just dive into that album. That'd be like watching just a few scenes from "Good Will Hunting" without seeing the rest!

Any1 who has 2 ask y it is only 1 track doesn't really get the albums concept. Prince himself said "Lovesexy is a trip. U either go with it or u don't."

It is intended 2 b listened to as a whole, a musical trip that tells the story of Prince's spiritual awakening around that time. Yeah it can be a little annoying trying to fast forward to say... Anna Stesia. But I really like the idea of 1 track. It kinda makes it stand out from all his other work.

However I 2 have broken it up on my computer so I can skip to certain trax.

If u listen to a copy of Lovesexy that has been tracked, try it on shuffle play on your stereo. It'll completely lose the albums appeal.

Oh, come on, lordlee. I'm sure wanting the CD to be tracked has nothing to do with whether or not this guy can "get the concept." TRC was intended to be heard in it's entirety, too, but Prince realized that not everybody has that sort of time or patience and tracked it.

I agree with those of you who support the fact that Lovesexy is one track. It is meant to be listened to in its entirety. This is the only Prince album that does not track the individual songs. I do own the tracked version, simply for the sake of being able to put specific songs from it on individualized discs, but the album is so thematically united that the songs work best in context with the others.

Start with Purple Rain, then progress backward 'till you hit "For You". Then move forward again. By the time you hit Lovesexy you freak and have a mindblowing experience and just assume that the dude last lost his mind.
And you trip with the experience. But work the Black Album in somewhere before or after Lovesexy. If you're keeing in tune.
