Kelly Clarkson Single "Since U Been Gone"? Did anyone notice that Kelly Clarkson's single is titled "Since U Been Gone"?
Is this a Prince reference? If so is anybody pissed? P.S. Yes I'm a newbie, so go ahead and make all the neccessary comments. "Life is just a party and parties weren't meant to last"

Is this a Prince reference? If so is anybody pissed? Since you asked an honest question, I'll give an honest answer - NO. There are literally hundreds of songs that use "U" instead of "you" - Prince might be noteable for doing it over 20 years ago (I believe the first was Jack U Off) - but he didn't invent short-hand and numerics in songtitles.

All I'm saying is that many people equate this with Prince. When Sinead O'Conner did Nothing Compares 2 U, many people who didn't know it by Prince originally got the idea through the shorthand. I know that Prince doesn't have any kind of rights to doing it. I'm just asking could Kelly be making an attempt at being cool by copping his style?
P.S. I know this thread may be trivial, but aren't 9 out of 10 threads on this site trivial. I mean they're just things to talk about. I've been reading the Org forums for a while now (before I joined) and some of you veterans are like Barry from High Fidelity. Aren't we all Prince lovers. We should get along. That's why I raised the question. I hate people like Kelly who are made by the industry. Prince is the antithesis of that person, which is why I love him. That's the musical snobbery being discussed in other threads. The act might be manufactured, but the music is still created by someone. Vanity 6 and The Time didn't write their material, but I don't regard their material any less than the work released under Prince's own name.
