prince = worth getting your ass kicked?

so I joined this site last saturday...when I got home from the hospital...after I got my ass kicked by two guys at a local bar because I was wearing a "stupid f**king fag shirt"....the shirt in question was none other than my prized prince t-shirt...I was simply in the wrong place in the wrong time I suppose...but for some reason this whole incident only made me a more of a fan....sure I told the guys to f**k off when they were harassing me about the shirt...but really, these guys were wearing (i kid you not) def leppard and nickelback t-shirt. This isn't the first time I have encountered hostility because I am wearing a prince t-shirt....has anyone else experienced this physical hostility? and has anyone else suffered physical injury because of being a prince fan? sad
I liked that shirt...

Anxiety

someone in a NICKELBACK t-shirt called your prince t-shirt gay??? hoo-boy.

i used to get a lot of shit for liking prince in high school, but when i considered the musical abortions they listened to, i considered their jeers a mark of good taste on my part.

from college on, though, when people found out i dug prince, i'd always get the standard "he's weird but he's a genius" reply.

I'm sorry to hear you got your ass kicked by those jokers. Sometimes it's just easier to not be so open about your love for Prince.

To tell the truth, the only physical fights I have ever had in my entire life have been with my siblings.

I have been confronted by people but I have bluffed them into thinking I was crazy (not a far stretch from the truth). lol I just tell them, very calmly, "You can call me whatever the hell you want. You know, it really doesn't matter to me, since it's coming from trash...but when you put your hands on me, you may beat my ass up in here, but if I ever make it to my car and back up in here, you'll never be able to put your hands on anybody else again. I'll cut your dick off and wear it on my earring. And while I'm in prison, afterwards, I'll be having more sex than I've ever had in my life and laughing at you down in hell."

I usually stay away from places where I know there is going to be trash but in my younger days, you couldn't tell me anything...I wanted to go everywhere.

i was a boxer from 12-28 and a sucker punch artist in my teens LOL. so, though i was only 5 '4 and used to rock eyeliner with lace gloves in high school nobody would fuck with me. I once punched a guy and made him apologize to me in front of his girlfriend for calling prince a fag.

nbk, I'm sorry to hear about what's happened - terrible! I hope you're ok. I'd never condone violence but - since they laid into you first - I hope they get what they deserve. Especially over something so silly.

I hope this doesn't affect your love of P's music. hug

This is the perfect argument for HATE CRIME LEGISLATION. Regardless if you're straight or gay.

I hope you are okay and I hope they catch the motherfuckers who did it. I am gay and have heard it all, from "Prince is a fag", to "you're a fag". Whatever. Nobody's ever attacked me, knock on wood. Luckily I have so many great straight friends that would join me in kicking some ass.

I hope the rest of your holidays are great.
I'm pissed.

Once I had a gay comment made at me for wearing a symbol pendant around my neck.

Looking back ('95), I can't believe I dressed like that, to work or otherwise, what a spanner! But still, it's funny how some folks view Prince...and his fans.

Kind of hard to defend a goofy brother like Prince, just remember, the most homophobic men are the most latently homosexual.

Oh fucking hell.

disbelief

Sounds like these two were idiots long before they ran into you-hope all is well!

I've never had problems with people except for them not really getting Prince, and just figuring he's some weird guy that sings high.

Which is only part of the reason I enjoy him so.

No WAY!!! I announce my love for Prince wherever I go... I don't care. I'd love for some punk to confront me so I can choke his ass out. and dude who got his ass kicked by those assholes, if I was there, I wouldn't hesitate to jump in and knock those f*ckers out.

and usually when someone mocks me for being a Prince fan...I'd ask them who their favourite artist is. Then I'd tell him to find out what his fave artist thinks of Prince. Chances are, they have nothing but admiration for the our little genius!

okay....i don't know what's more ridiculous: the fact that this poor soul got beat down for who was on a mere t-shirt, or the fact that the grown-assed bastids that did it are still into the idea of "my band is better than yours". no pop star is worth gettin your ass beat over. that shit's trivial.

I've seen women beating the hell out of each other a lot lately on the news.

Like this story:

And this story:

Also a friend of mine was attacked recently in front of her apartment by a group of girls.

Don'tcha just love women?

Question

I'm so sorry 2 hear about this and hope u r alright. I
can't believe even now they are still doing this.

The only time I had a problem was when my son was a little boy
we went to Great Adventure and he wanted a poster of Prince
when he asked the man started yelling that Prince was a fag
and then called my son a fag.

Well since I was Mom/Dad (single mom) the dad came out
they gave my son a poster (not Prince) we ripped it up
and threw at the guy. rolleyes

question

You've never been beaten up? You haven't lived until you've taken a few blows to the dome. Get out there and mix it up. smile

On a serious note, it's a shame things like this have to happen. To answer the question whether Prince is worth getting my ass kicked I give a resounding Hell No. I've been in a couple fights in my life-- enough to know it's not something to look forward to. Even when you "win" you end up with sore knuckles. Anyway, I wouldn't fight over somebody I don't know. Hell, part of me wants to whup my own ass for being a Prince fan. smile
