that's a great flyer - congrats on getting this whole idea in motion! i'd love to do a monthly bowie night out here in chicago the way we have prince and madonna nights...i know next to nothing about clubby promotey stuff, though.

The Madonna night is reletively new. Berlin is always changin up Sundays (except for Prince Night). Not sure if DB would work monthly...but a one off absutely. If you really wanted to do one..you should approach the bartenders of what ever establishment you patron (Berlin's staff is really friendly) and ask them how to go about it. Or if you know Sam (I know Greg Haus...buddy of mine) ask who you call. Places like Berlin do their own advertising, so you wouldn't have to do THAT much promotion wise. Best place for your fliers is at the place of establishment. And this really goes for any of the orgers who want to do something like that. Sometimes places will ask for a Bar minimum...but if it's a place that is small, not too clubby, usually they are hip to the idea. It really takes a little gumption and a bit of work. But I think that a Bowie night is an excellent idea and Berlin would be very open to soemtrhing like that I think. You just gotta ask.

To keep my thing going I'll just need people to support it. I am hoping the lack of P things on a regular basis will get the bay area fans out. But I am just happy to do it and expose folks to cool music.

Maybe one day you'll make it out here...maybe an org invasion might happen here...you never know.

awww heck, thanks for the advice. i'm pretty chummy with the bartenders at berlin - they are nice folks indeed - and i've chatted with sam a few times. i think i'd like to do a quarterly party if i did ever decide to do one - i don't think that would take too much out of my normal schedule, and i think i could get lotsa folks to come out four times a year to groove to ol' uncle dayvid...and lord knows i have the bowie collection for it. maybe i'll follow up on it sometime after i've recovered from the new year.

even when the prince nights at berlin are slow, i think the "regulars" make it worth keeping up. last month was kinda dead, but it was nice hanging out with TOFKA, Lace, sam, incognito and all the other usual suspects. that night's been going on a long time, as you know, but hopefully you can get a cast of "regulars" together to keep it going strong.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll keep you posted as to how it goes. I am hoping to do the visual part...that's always fun. I have some crazy old videos like Drive Me Wild and stuff (Thanks Nouveau!). And New Power Roll has to be a reality.
