God Live Syracuse VHS... I recently watched the Prince and The Revolution Live vid for the first time in two years and I was captivated by Prince's performance of God. I LOVE the gospel/church feel he puts into the performance. The hi hats and synths add more atmosphere to the song; while the inspired piano playing compliments his rotation between natural voice and falsetto. Anyone else digging that performance?

You mean Prince was spiritual way back in '84/'85 too?
Seriously, yeah it's a pretty cool performance -- I dig the one-on-one conversation with God... "yes, i'll be good..." Makes ya wonder what was really going through Prince's mind at the time to perform this in front of millions of people. Also... the "Armageddon" back-masking segment is pretty trippy as well.

The screams at the climax are the best screams i've ever heard him do. The first one even seems to come without taking a breath.
Love the little bluesy piano break at "when he saw that it was cool he made a man" line. "Prince don't hear Ravel when he wanna make love to his woman. He hears drums and shit." Miles Davis
