This song kind of trips me out. In the video it is supposed to be about Prince. They show his picture in it. It's a very homoerotic song to me. "sister fate, destiny, she's the only one between you and me" "if they knew the real truth, they'd probably die". I don't know.

Is it just me reading into things or what? Personally I think she's bi.Either way Sheila still has it. Great performer. I saw her in San Jose a long time ago at a very small club called the Oasis. She tore it up!!!!

The video (directed by Prince) seems to imply the song is about them, but who knows? I never thought the public considered them a romantic couple, even back then. They weren't seen going out on dates or anything.

I love Sister Fate, it's one of my favourite Sheila (heck Prince) songs.

The video does play up the Prince/Sheila rumours - there's headlines like "Who is Sheila's mystery lover?" - then there's a clip of Prince from the Raspberry Beret video.

I imagine Sheila's PR team played it up because she was around at Prince's commercial peak in the USA - 1984/5.

i think we were supposed to believe there was something going on between prince and sheila, because of the images in the video and whatnot; and while i'm sure there were shenanigans between the two of them (alex hahn has them going at it on and off basically all throughout the '80s), i'm sure it's probably more complex and non-commital and "rock'n'roll" than we'd guess...oh, and sheila has vehemently emphasized in a past interview on NPGMC that she's as hetero as hetero can be.
