How many people have you converted into Prince fans

When my friend and I were about 12 years old.I hired the Purple Rain video to watch. Before the video started my friend said she "hated Prince". By the time the video had ended she screamed "I love Prince". She had seen the light and still loves him till this day.
Tell us your stories of the people you have successfully converted or had an influence on through Princes music.

Lots of girlfriends! It starts "You Like Prince! I dont like his high voice. Is he gay?" and then "I didnt know Prince has a low voice. I didnt know that Prince plays guitar like Jimi Hendrix. I didnt know Prince dated Kim Basinger. I like that song. " Thay become Prince fans.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

when i first told all my friends that i was hopelessly obsessed with P my opinion was stripped from me and every answer to a contrasting opinion i had was responded to with "shut up! U love prince!" but i got my friend kara into him when i let her listen to my Very best Of album and she heard Gett Off. She asked me to burn her the cd and i did, and then i took her to the Musicology concert. She left and was like "damn that shit was the coolest thing i've ever seen!" and ever since then she's had respect for him. She even doesn't object to blastin his funky music. One down, still 60 to go...

Most of my friends are hardcore ex-Prince fans. There's nothing I can do to convert them back. Prince knows what to do, he just won't do it.

At least 3 classmates of mine. One dude and two gals. The dude was into Morris Day and the Time more (even though he saw Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back), but when I introduced him to the essential Prince albums, he converted. When he finally saw Purple Rain, he was like "I DIDN'T KNOW MORRIS DAY AND THE TIME WERE IN PURPLE RAIN! I like Prince even more now." So, he's converted.

My other two gals just decided to listen to P out of curiosity, since they always saw me listening to his stuff. When they heard "I Would Die 4 U," they were hooked. smile

Not bad for somebody that just became a fan in February, eh?

since i didn't want to go to the musicology concert alone, i had to drag my ex...he was caught up in the whole "prince is gay, prince is freaky" crap, but he went w/ me anyway. i don't think he had a full conversion, but he did go out and buy the hits and b sides and even found some new favorite songs by him...

Converted is such a strong word. I prefer delivering them from their satanic, moronic, nonsensical ways.

I haven't had much luck with many of my friends, but have convinced one, I made her watch every P movie and listen to most of his songs. She's a Madonna fan and loves almost everything that has to do with the 80's, so it wasn't too hard. When she fould out that he wrote Nothing Compares 2 U, she absolutely loved him. But most of my friends won't even give him a chance, some of my friends in school saw the pic of P wearing a dress when I was on during school and I got picked on for the remainder of the day, it didn't really help with converting anyone! lol! But as a P fan, I will continue trying to make every person on this earth a lover of Prince!!!

The essentials. From "For You" to "Musicology." A few are still out of my reach (The Vault, etc.), but I've got a good enough base.

Ok I had to con my friend to drive me to Philadelphia for the Musicology concert. The entire 2 hr ride he continued to make fun of him. I stayed quiet the entire time. I just waited and I told him after the concert you will be very suprised. Anyway, when everything started he stood there with his mouth wide open. I asked whats wrong and he said that he had no idea that he was an amazing guitarist. He had never seen so many people before at a concert. He said that it was even better then the Guns N Roses concert that he went to. Anyway, although he may not be a hard core fan. He left that concert with a new respect for him and his talent. My whole point is if you don't care for the him fine that is your loss. But give him respect for his talent and creativity. And that night my friend saw the light.
