You guys might hate me for this, but I have never heard the album "Sign 'O' Times."

I'm 21 & have only been listening to Prince for the Past 3 years. I started with 1999 then onto Purple Rain. I then began downloading a bunch of Prince stuff and then bought the Hits album.

You guys know so much more about Prince than me, but from this site, my growing collection and you guys I plan to learn a lot more

I know know what album to buy next though..."Sign 'O' the Time.

The Prince CD's/Tapes I have are: 1999, Purple Rain, the HITS, Emancipation, Under the Cherry Moon, Graffiti Bridge & Dimonds and Pearls

What should I get after Sign 'O' Times?

We don't hate you! I applaud you for getting interested enough to buy the album! for you! Don't be discouraged about the reactions of some- some Prince fans act like they know it all. "Sign o' the Times" definitely makes sense as a next purchase! Enjoy!

My bad...I actually have "The Rainbow Children" however I wish i kept my recite cuz it sucks!

I have only listened to it once and oh I didn't like it. I'm gonna listen to it again and maybe it will be a lil bit better....then again, it can't get any worse

Well I think u have a long way 2 go, as once u have got through all the released stuff u then have all the bootlegs to get through! Around the world in a day and Parade should also be purchased quickly! I would keep listening to TRC though, as it will definatly grow on u

I'd say go for The Gold Experience after Sign O' The Times, then Lovesexy

but it's all good, just get whatever you see next.

You HAVE to get this album! It is one of his best, if not THE best. You've heard Adore, and U Got The Look - so imagine a whole CD in that style.

If you get a chance, also rent the concert movie!

If you haven't heard the music leading up to The Rainbow Children, and haven't experienced the ups-and-downs of his career, then you're not ready to hear TRC.

Don't sell it or give it away - just put it away until you've heard almost everything else.

There are about 2 dozen album from him - so work on getting those. You won't be disappointed.

ville, just get SOTT. after that you will be so hooked, you won't care which one you get next.

Buy anything and everything within your financial means. I found out about him when I was 12 years old (The Batman album),listened to nothing but Prince straight for 3 years and still didn't burn out. There's something in the entire back catalogue for everyone.

But take your time, each album deserves your undivided attention.

I recently went back and listened to "For You" over the course of a couple of weeks worked my way through all the albums up to "The Rainbow Children". You definately get a better feel for how much Prince has grown as a musician, songwriter, and producer listening to the progression that his albums have gone through.

The only thing about JUST having the albums is that alot of the songs, exppecially the ones that were released as singles, were not the full versions of the songs! GET THE EXTENDED/12"/FULL versions of as many songs as you can! Most can be found on line and downloaded. If you don't have hig speed access like DSL or CABLE HS, get it! It will pay for itself whne you calculate how much FREE-RARE music is out there.

As for SOTT, I've always felt that this was his best album from a musical stand point. Get this album yesterday!

Baby, I don't think you're stupid just young and new to the mans work. You've got a long ways to go but I try to remember you are just 21 and in school right now aren't you?
But yeah you definetly need to wrap your mind around alot of stuff before you can grasp TRC. First get SOTT because it is one of the best but then get Around the World , Lovesexy, The , and the sound track for Under the Cherry Moon. For just an overall look at his development you should get The Hits/B-sides but you won't get the full effect til ya buy em all.
