Call My Name re-enters Billboard Hot 100

From Billboard.com:

At No. 66, Rascal Flatts' "Bless the Broken Road" is the top debut, followed by Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" (No. 70), Reba McEntire's "He Gets That From Me" (No. 71) and re-entering the chart, Prince's "Call My Name" (No. 100).

yay! so how many weeks in the top 100 is that now? i'm thinking about 18? anyone know how the airplay looks?

i dont think it is off the back off the grammies, that should kick in next week right? or is airplay processed faster than sales etc?

This would be week 17 on the Hot 100, the song has legs.

All charts were pretty much tallied before the grammy nominations were announced , so any bounce from that would not be seen til next week. On the daily airplay charts I look at from MediaBase there has been no big jump for Prince tunes, other than Call My Name still in the Top 10 on Urban AC

"Call my name" is a sensual slow which has the Prince-stamp all over it!

But I wonder why it is doing so "bad" in the major charts. When I look at other supposed R&B-stuff that's ranking high, it saddens me that it's not a least in the top 20. It'll be much deserved!

Yes, CMN is an excellent song. A Prince classic that will be requested for the next 15-20 years, like Adore.

Now it's time to get the next single out. Quickly please.

Considereing all the crap in the upper level of the charts (Bad rap, horrible wanna be rock chicks, Ryan Cabrerra) it's a pleasent surprise that some stations are embracing quality more sophisticated music such as 'Call My Name'...Ms. 'Nita Baker even cracked the big chart with 'You're My Everything' a few weeks back.

Who would'nt love to see Prince and Anita Baker share the stage at the Grammy's showing these kids how it's really done. (Al Green too!..he's nominated)

Fingers crossed for a Grammy Soul Revival! Prince, 'Nita, Rev. Al, Jilly from Philly.....ok...getting too excited!

peace.....

because the major charts are controlled by the radio programmers...if things were like a few years ago when the people had a say in the singles charts yes it would have been a bigger hit but not they way things are now..its almost impossible for it to have been a major top 20 hit
Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

Thank goodness! Someone else here agrees with me about the potential for this song. Not only will it do well on the Urban AC charts, but I think it would do some serious damage on the Urban charts as well. This song has some serious CROSSOVER potential in the long run. It doesn't even need a video to be successful.

Personally, I also like Dear Mr. Man for both Urban AC and Urban radio as well.

Wow. That's quite convenient. I had no idea that "Call My Name" would even have this much longevity.

Great news for P fans. razz

I've given up trying to figure out how the charts are calculated. Great news anyway. At this rate, Cinnamon Girl will probably hit the charts around March 2005. Especially if he performs it at the Grammys. I'm just praying he DOES perform so he can upstage everyone the same way he did earlier this year.

More important than this, as nice as it is, is the fact that the re-entry of this song in the charts, along with the grammy nods, might bring Musicology back on the charts for another week or two and inch it closer to double-platinum status!

The little enging that could said, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can..." eek

This song always calls me back...I'm suprised didn't reach top 10, give it time to grow on people, & the video is BEAUTIFUL.

Isn't that the reason why I hear the same song play like 10 times within the same hour leaving no room for the other GOOD ones...rolleyes

Co-sign this. I would have expected a single from this a long time ago since he showcased it on his MTV/BET tv broadcast.

CMN is really good, but it's definitely on the lower end of his great love songs.

Don't really see any good singles on this album to be honest.

Definitely! Either of these songs would do very well on Urban and Urban AC radio even without a video. They might even crossover into the Top 40 due to their success on those charts. Both songs are that solid.

Ehh, I dunno about that. Almost everyone was so sure CMN was nothing short of a lock to be a big hit and it made less waves than a pebble hitting the Pacific Ocean.
