Interesting. I like John Mayer. I saw him on carson daly (i was up late, don't ask) and he was very funny and brutally honest. Carson was trying to make him sound like a womanizer or something so he played along. Let's just say it was interesting.

Why do so many people on this site hate John Mayer so much? Seriously, I'd really like to know what it is you don't like. I haven't bought any of his music, but I'm familiar with a couple of his songs. He has a good voice, plays instruments and seems like a decent guy, so what gives??

Why is it so unbelievable that Prince is a fan of John Mayer??? He is also a fan of Nelly Furtado and she opened for him on his Musicology tour in Toronto!

Good point. If Prince is a fan of Mayer, I wouldn't be surprised as I'm sure he appreciates real musicianship. Nelly sings through her nose, but she's not bad in the whole scheme of things.

I wouldn't say I'm a John Mayer fan but I do like a few of his songs and respect that he's "real musician" as Prince would probably say. Not sure how this is so unbelievable or creepy to some...

Prince is also a fan of Joni Mitchell, so he likes Folk music. (Like Hendrix was a fan of Bob Dylan).
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Right! And, it's also because Prince and Hendrix know great music when they hear it. I'm not saying John Mayer is great, but he's better than some shit out there.

This may sound cruel, but I wish some drawma would fall upon Prince and Mani. Usually Prince's best music comes out when he's going through turmoil.

I don't mind hearing his music but I can't watch him sing. He sings like he's trying to get peanut butter off the roof of his mouth and it's so annoying.

I saw a bit of John Mayer's TV show on VH1. He seems like a really intelligent, funny person, but his music doesn't terribly interest me (which is a strong endorsement compared to what I'd have to say about anything on MTV or the major pop radio stations). One thing that seemed somewhat disconcerting about him was during this little focus group he held with a few female fans where he admitted (perhaps facetiously) that he doesn't really write his own songs. The girls seemed weirded out by this as well, and I do have a problem with people who are complicit with the weird behind the scenes bullshit that goes on with songwriting credit manipulation.

He makes funny faces when he sings? Just guessing.. shrug

probally because, people that like Prince like funk and R&B and all that, and John Mayer's kinda the opposite, haha.

yeah, i don't like John Mayer that much either really, his music i mean. i think he's a cool person, just his music, i don't like those un-plugged acoustic style music, i can't get into that. John Mayer's actually got his own show now on VH1 and he's really cool and funny.
