goat2004 said: In all honesty, most Prince fans became fans during the Purple Rain movement. However,I have taken the opportunity to reserach his earlier work and have become a die hard fans over the years.
Those folks U guys R rerring to just go see Prince life to hear the Purple Rain album, or any of his major 80 pop hits. I to, get disgusted with those folks. They probably don't know anything from the Crystal Ball CD or anything after 95 for that matter. In comparisson, there are MJ fans who only identify with his Thriller album and totally ignored his other solo works but will pay $2,000 to hear his Thriller album and a couple of J5 tunes. And that's the thing that gets me mad. Why spend all that money to go to a concert (no matter who it is) and then just SIT through most of the show? The people around me at the MSG show did just that and I started to get pissed but I realized, I'm not here for them, I'm here to see Prince. Even my best friend said the people around us were dead. That is just pathetic, going to a concert so you can hear 3 songs out of 25. Other people that wanted to see Prince but couldn't probably got shut out because of those fools. How can you sit still at a Prince concert? If this makes me a Prince snob then somebody get me my crown cause I'll where that sucker with pride. Back to the topic, Prince killed it this year and 2005 will be more of the same if not better. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

My copy of Electric Intercourse is better than yours..... Miguel...step #2 Resist throwing out obscure cuts that no one (especailly newbies) have never heard or possess...it just reinforces the stereotype and slows the process of the healing! 1-The Musicology Press Conference at the El Rey Theater in LA. Hands down the highlight of my year The El Rey is a small theater and club members got preferred treatment, even gettin in before the press!! Wasn't sure what to expect but he came out and spoke about the intent of the upcoming album and tour. There was a question and answer question. And there was a performance. He played Sign O' The Times and I was totally excited to hear it but honestly thought he was going to be played out on his old songs so I kinda didn't expect much. Then he just set out and proved that expectation to be completely wrong. He sang and played the guitar with so much passion. Quite frankly it, shocked me. Then he whips out "? of U" that transformed into "The One", flawlessly back into the "? of U". Playing each with his whole heart. The fact that I got to hear these 3 gems in such intimate settings really were really just experiences I never thought I'd have. 2-The Vegas Live DVD screening. We went to the Universal City walk in LA for the screening and upon leaving the screening we were given wristbands. I nearly fainted when the girl handing out the wristbands said that Prince was playing at Bebe Kings and to head over for a show. It was there (in a literal shoebox) that Prince and the NPG launched into Shhhh. I flipped, because this was a song I never thought I'd hear live. As I stood there, tears welling up in my eyes i felt a hand grab mine and I look to see who grabbed it and this girl (Ursulasgirl) , who obviously saw the wild look in my eyes, simply mouthed the words "I know". She had wild eyes too It was a moment beyond compare. 3-Musicology concert. I attended the very first show, thanks to my girl Krystina. I was experiencing a bout of brokeness and my friend stepped up with an extra ticket. Being at such a large venue, the tickets were more lottery style rather than guaranteeing the first 15 rows like he did at other concerts. We get there and ask our friends where they are seating. Row 7 was the best seat. We got our tickets and discovered that we were row #2! Read my review of the concert here: http://www.prince.org/msg/12/87259 . [Edited 12/8/04 13:32pm] I had a question about that conference at El Rey Theater. You know the part where he is talking about Beyonce rehearsing with his band and he pulls out the hankerchief. Was he he getting emotional or was he sweating in disbelief because he was impressed by Beyonce.

My top 3 Prince moments of 2004:
1. Musicology show @ XCEL Energy Center - I took my wife (her second Prince show. First being TRC Xcel show). Plus we took three other people who had never seen Prince live before. They all thought it was the BEST concert they'd had ever seen. 2. Prince's Paisley Park June 18th Afterparty - Prince was in a great mood. Everything from joking around with a guy he let on stage to sing Joy In Repetition. To an beautiful instrumental version of Purple Rain, to the big finish by singing ADORE after the crowd had chanted earlier in the night to sing it. I do not think I had seen Prince be as funny as he was that night. What a memory. 3. Grammy Awards!!!!! What can I say that no one else has? This appearance put Prince back in the mainstream eye. "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

I TOTALLY AGREE! and the interview at the end was very intresting! Me and my aunt were watching the show! It came on at 9:00 pm and was on at least 3 channels at the same time when I checked. SHe had called to tell that he was on tv but I was watching already! Top 10 1. Interview on mornig show 2. the interview on the Biz 3. Music and words by Prince, The Art of Musicology 4. July 24, 2004, Prince comes back to Shytown 4 cancelled days, the one I went to was the BOMB! Bow down to John Blackwell! 5. Musicology cd comes out 6. Musicology video 7. Call my name vid 8. Cinnamin Girl vid 9 and 10 are just 4 Prince being no one else but Prince because that's who he is and is proud of it! So many people try to be things their not, and I get sick of seeing it! So he should get an award 4 being original in his special ways. LOVE him, ADORE him, ADMIRE him! ------;;;;;'

My number one Prince moment would have to be when he looked out in the audience and did a double take when he saw me at the Musicology show as if to say " What r u doing here?"

1. The RRHOF guitar solo 2. The RRHOF after show 3. His performance of Bambi on the tour Everything else was junk. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

10. Rob Harvilla's essay "Mourning the Prince Deficit", which was a harbinger of sorts to Prince's return to the spotlight.
9. Prince's interview with Maria Bartiromo on CNBC. He was totally charming and sexy. He might be a married JW, but he ain't lost his mackin game, cuz he was pouring the charm on thick, and Maria was gushing all over the place. 8. Prince on Leno - that man was looking incredible, the band was incredible, and that dance to the couch was awesome. 7. Prince on Ellen...she was NOT hiding the fact that she was flirting with him, and it was hilarious. Wonder if he ever did try on those boxers? 6. Prince reuniting with Wendy on Tavis Smiley's show. Simply incredible. 5. Alicia Key's and OutKast's induction speeches, and seeing them all have a big group hug after Prince's speech. 4. The guitar solo during "while my guitar gently weeps" at the RRHOF...what else can I say? Legendary. 3. The live simulcast from LA in March 2004. Especially the acoustic set, when the crowd roared so loud, all Prince could do was hide his face, he soo looked like he was about to cry. 2. The two Musicology shows I went to at MCI Center in August, had awesome front row seats, and he tore it up. 1. The Induction aftershow at Club Black, was front row...it was so great to be there to help him celebrate this milestone in his life. Plus, the show kicked ASS!!! The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.
