Drummer extraordinaire JOHN BLACKWELL recently sat down for a 90 minute interview and music special on the "Upper Room with Joe Kelley and Gi Dussault" radio show. During the radio special, John discusses how he and his family have been dealing with the tragic passing of their daughter Jia.

This Saturday, Dec. 11th, there will be a Jia Kennie Blackwell Memorial Scholarship Concert at the Berklee Performance Center at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Tickets are only $10. The concert promises to be a phenomenal evening with musicians such as John Blackwell, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dennis Chambers, Marcus Williams, Dom Famularo and many more talented guests. All proceeds will go to a music scholarship for female musicians in Jia's memory and a portion of the funds will go to water safety prevention. During the interview, John Blackwell talks about the Musicology tour with Prince and the NPG, his tours with Cameo and Patti LaBelle, the state of the music industry, and his plans for his forthcoming solo CD.
