The entire Violet The Organ Grinder video...the chain hat, the gold girls, the purple suit, and "...I can deal with a sucka if he's in yo mouth, but I can't deal with insincere" !
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

YUP.
TWO OCCASIONS:

First, his performance at the American Music Awards of the Gold Experience medley. It was completely lipsynched, and Prince made NO attempt to make it look convincing as he even chewed gum during the performance. HOWEVER, there's a part in the performance wher dancers are moving around chaotically on stage with what look like body bags on draped over them and a figure (we presumed was Prince) was walking down a flight of steps only to stumble and fall--pretending to be dead. At the same time all the figures in drapes fall too. Then a light shines NOT on the Prince figure at the steps , but one of the dancers up front, and the drape comes flying off, and it's Prince. He then does the splits and rises (always neat to see him splitting upwards).
Despite the lip synching, and the fact that no one knew the songs, he got a standing ovation.

SECOND:
The tripple station simulcast of Highlights from the MUSICOLOGY tour. It's amazing that an artist who had only lackluster hits during the 90's (That's ten years of close to nothing special, folks), could command enough respect and interest to have a T.V. special like that--Not Bowie, not Springstein or R.E.M. but Prince. I can only think of a small handful of artists who would be given that treatment, especially with his dismal album sales before MUSICOLOGY.

Dick Clark and his show have a lip-sync policy...all acts must do it on the
AMA's. The gum was Prince's jab at this...gotta love his sense of humor.

Those others that you mentioned are way overrated (add U2 and you hit the
quadruple). Prince is still respected in the industry. More people than
you think have listened to "nothing special".

Byron

The slide in "Let's Pretend We're Married"
(although his Courtney Cox-like "Dancing In The Dark" moves
immediately afterwards is embarassing as hell..lol)

The jump/spin/dance move he does in the middle of "When Doves Cry"...
It seemed spontaneous and smooth as hell...and in high heels, too!! eek

At the Grammys when he throws down his guitar...
it was one helluva exclamation point to his performance. nod

1. The "toss the guitar and dance to the chair" move at the end of the Musicology performance on Jay Leno this past year.

2. The "backwards fall off the edge of the stage whilst soloing" during the RRHOF "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" performance.

Those were pretty slick. nod
