Just found this interesting site.
http://users.ids.net/~dmsr/fakes.html It mentions a few of the songs that we have been discussing. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

"Work That Fat" a fake, or not?
Got hold of this track the other week and boy I wish I hadn't. If it's not a fake, I wish it were! Everybody is special. Everybody. Everybody is a hero, a lover, a fool, a villain. Everybody. Everybody has their story to tell.

I thought "The Dance Electric" WAS Prince when I first heard it. The same with "100MPH".

"R U Horny" is a fake and it persistently keeps on circulating in file swapping apps, along with the rest of Dr. Feelgood tracks. Eliminate all that crap from your hard drives so people wouldn't waste their time downloading 'em! oh, I listened to "Heaven Over You" again, and it's hard to tell since the sound quality really is THAT bad, but I'll give it a thumbs down - shall we confirm this as fake? It's always a bit risque with instrumentals, better stick with Per Nilsen's guidelines. However the DMSR -book doesn't mention "Divinity"?!? _____ Is the instrumental "Moments Of Life" genuine? The piano sounds like Prince playing it, but I've never heard him use those Todd Rundgren like organ sounds. It has been documented as genuine by Sabotage... but anyone?

giotto said: Fakes? Too many to mention.Aside from the ones already mentioned, the following spring to mind, though:
'Suzie Lovelace'(probably a Brown Mark cast-off) 'Different Kinda Thing' 'Help Me Baby' 'I Could Be Your Lover' 'Naughty' 'Livin' In America' 'Sleazy' 'Underground' 'Paisley Park' [instrumental] 'Cat Scratch' 'Stranger' 'Heaven Over You' 'Ozymandias Overture' 'Tinkerbell Jazz' 'If I Had a Harem II'(whoever tried to impersonate Prince on this acoustic 'studio version' is useless...) Isn't "Suzie Lovelace" a Mazarati song that was left off their debut album? It was produced by BrownMark, but was probably rejected in favor of the superior "Suzy",which appears on the album.

Re; 'Suzie Lovelace': Possible lead vocal by Brownmark.
As for 'Divinity', I believe it is the instrumental version of 'Lust U Always', which is 10:25 mins long. Apparently, it was recorded in 1982, but judging by the sound of the Yamaha DX7, it can perhaps be datedto 1984. The track was amongst the 17 titles that were shortlisted for inclusion on the projected 'Crystal Ball II' volume... "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

On one of my 'Purple Rain'-era bootlegs,I have this long, repetitive instrumental. It sounds like it's from 1983/84.I don't know if the correct title is "Divinity" or "Lust U Always".I'm assuming that "Lust U Always" is a real song with lyrics, since it was offered to Robert Palmer in 1988.Is there a circuling version of the song with Prince's vocals? Is it the same as the instrumental that I have,or is "Divinity" an entirely different song?

'Lust U Always' is definitely a real song with lyrics and was indeed offered to Robert Palmer (who turnrd it down). However, said song is NOT circulationg amongst collectors.
Bear in mind that 'Lust U Always [instrumental]' often goes by the name of 'Divinity' (in all likelyhood, a title that was made up by bootleggers in their ignorance), and is the only version circulating, so that's probably the version you have. "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

I've been wondering if that whole "Divinity"/"Lust U Always"/"Bob's Your Uncle" -thing is actually called "Traffic Jam"? There is a 1984 song of that name enlisted in the DMSR book, and come to think of it it sounds quite like a Traffic Jam, you know?

'Traffic Jam' is not even circulating as an outtake, although it's a genuine Prince song. "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

no, I was just hinting at the mere possibility that they are the same thing. the whole track sounds quite a lot like traffic, you know. This is just speculation with not much credentials, but on the other hand the track certainly is not called Divinity or Lust U Always in reality either! let us just call it Divinity in the meantime, though.
