First outtake you ever heard "There's Others Here With Us"
This one blew my mind. And it's made so much more eery by the fact that it's never legally seen the light of day. What made him record this? Why didn't it make the album, and indeed why was it intended for Parade given the completely different, upbeat nature of the rest of the album? I still get shudders from this one.

My brother in law (at the time) worked for a radio station and he got me the entire "Black Album" on tape. That had to be my first bootleg.

The first collection of outtakes I bought wqas Jewel Box II...so the 1st outtake I he4ard would have to be Computer Blue...long version, since I skipped to that song the minute I put the CD in the player. I saw the set in a store and just happened to pick it up out of curiosity and the dude from the shop told me if I like Prince that I NEED to get this. The guy then ordered Jewel Box I for me which I got a week later.
This is when I was losing interest in Prince's music...I was hugly disappointed in the Symbol album and for the next couple years didn't really care about the guy or his music. These collection of outtakes and a tape of Gold Experience songs (that wasn't released yet) got me back into his music BIG time.

I first heard the Black Album in early 1988 from a friend who got an original copy (he worked for the firm that did Prince's taxes and got it as a Christmas thank you from WB and Paisley Park). It blew me away. He almost sold it to me for $100, but realized it could be worth more than that. I was lucky enough to get a great quality tape of it. The next batch of outtakes I remember getting were a 2 album set called "The Crown Jewels" or something like that. It was the crappiest package of outtakes. The quality was terrible and many of the song titles were completely wrong (I think Data Bank was called "pretty face"). After that, I remember finding out that a lot of collecters put ads in RECORD COLLECTOR magazine, so I placed one and discovered how many collectors of Prince outtakes there were and that is when it got fun.
That was also when the outtakes were from great albums (1999, Purple Rain, Parade, SOTT, LoveSexy, etc.). Many of the outtakes recently have been from his lackluster 90s releases, and since he left WB, most of the sources have dried up. Imagine how much more trading could have been done back in the day if we had the internet? The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. oh god that was a whole year ago...i think the first one i heard was...Extra Loveable? I can't remember the FIRST one i heard, but out of the many, that was an early one. At first i was scared to download them. I just watched Purple Rain and downloaded the songs from the soundtrack, and ALL these other songs i never heard of kept coming up in the searches, and once i downloaded one.... I heard this song for the first time about a month ago...and I gotta tell ya, I don't get what all the fuss is about. I like the song, but there's nothing about it that seems or feels creepy, eerie or anything...I think both "Annie Christian" and "Something In The Water" blow it away in the eerie department. And to answer the thread question (lol), the first outtake/bootleg I ever heard was "Superfunkycalifragisexy"...That blew me away.

"Le Grind" "Bob George" & "Superfunky..." -- Prince played them live in '88 (or at least parts of them). Then I heard "Power Fantastic" when it was put on The Hits / B-sides.

Movie Star on a mix tape my friend "Prince Joe", who lived and worked at the Howling Frog cafe, made for me in 1992. Long before Prince released it on Crystal Ball (1998). Goodnight, sweet Prince.

I guess, strictly speaking, the first outtake I heard was "The Black Album" before it's official release.
As for tracks which haven't been official released, I think either "Chocolate Box" or "Charade" would be the first. I'd still like to hear decent versions of "There's Others Here With Us" and "Heaven". ~ - ~ ~ - ~ ~ - ~ ~ - ~ Peace, Love and Positivity ~ - ~ ~ - ~ ~ - ~ Tell me, who in the House know about the Quake.com

"Rebirth of the Flesh".I heard it in 1988.Someone sent me a cassette of the "Black Album" and they also included the entire 'Camille' album.
Actually, this would mean that "Le Grind" is the first outtake I ever heard, since it's the first song on that cassette

Ain't that a bitch? Mine was "A Place in Heaven," and I loved it. That was back in the glory days of bootlegs online, circa 1999 - direct downloads, ftp sites, Seduction 747 and Moonbeam Levels ... those were the days! When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air, they act as a prism and form a rainbow. The rainbow is a division of white light into many beautiful colors. Regardless of the day, I'm glad you were born.

I've always dug that little ditty. I think the first one I heard was Electric Intercourse waaaaay back when (late 80s). It was the live track from the 8.3.83 show, but I never heard the whole boot until I got it in 2000. I am MrVictor....
