Prince's shoes

okay before I start this thread... let me take cover... boxed

I was looking at the Dirty Mind video, when Prince looked so young, and of course he was wearing heels, but these shoes didn't look like boots which in a way look manly, these looked like women's shoes!
It made me start thinking.... just when DID Prince start wearing high heels to look taller? And before he could afford custom made shoes, just where did he get high heels?? the women's shoes department? eek
And did he start out wearing heels as part of his stage look or was it all the time the way it is now? For that matter, does he now wear heels even when he is not performing or making a media appearance?

everybody knows the boot/heels story. Prance sold his feet to the devil in exchange for so much talent.

Everybody was wearing high heels back in the seventies. Prince and his fellow musicians were all sporting pretty much the same foot gear, some with customised stack heels. His choice of footwear probably went unremarked in those days.

His shoes did not always look so cool.Certain black and white photos of P during a Controversy gig actually show him wearing very ordinary looking biker boots which were fastened to the bottom of his trousers with what looks like duct-tape .

Until recently, P used to employ a London cobbler in Old Street, a chap of Greek origin who followed very specific instructions by fax from Prince as far as choice of heels and fabric were concerned. "He was very particular about his shoes", he would say.

All his creations for Prince featured lethal steel heels which, according to Liz Jones in her book "Slave To The Rhythm", had to withstand all that leaping about onstage.

He used to practice foot binding. It proved to be too much as it affected his dancing though.

Wow really? I would love to see those pics. I noticed this year at the concert he wore platform sneakers which I thought was very cool. I can understand the need for height. I just couldn't see myself wearing nice, dressy heels all the time. So platform sneakers are casually cool. cool

You know, I forgot about that. My dad had these ankle high boot/shoes and they did have a heel on them, maybe 1 1/2 inch and the heel was a chunky stacked type with leather soles. Funny I never thought it was anything feminine or geeky for men to wear those type of shoes. Now I can't figure out why Prince wearing heels is such a big deal. My husband "can't stand" Prince because he wears heels.
rolleyes
Maybe he is just jealous of Prince. hmmm

Well now I didn't say that they WERE women's shoes... just that they looked like women's shoes. It was the dirty mind video, in b&w he is wearing the bikini underwear, leg warmers, and trench coat. The heels looked ... well they didn't look like boots or ankle high shoes, they looked a little more streamline high heels, so they look more like women's shoes. (most men shoes appear bulkier with chunky heel etc.)

Who cares whether shoes come from the mens or womens departments? I mean, you don't wear shoes on your penis, so what difference does it make?

Or, nobody I know wears shoes on their cocks, anyway. hmm

Anyway, Prince is femme as fuck and I'm sure that the majority of his off-the-rack clothing has always come from the womens department. Sexy little bitch. mr.green

drool

I think what makes the femminess hot is, oddly enough, at his supremely girly moments he acts more like a woman than the stereotypical feminine man. If that makes any sense. shrug

Aw, who cares? He's hot. cool

The first time I saw Prince wear high heels was during the "Controversy" era. On "American Bandstand" in 1980, he wore boots but they were the square heels. On the back cover of "Dirty Mind", the boots don't even have a heel. I think Prince looks good in high heels and he wears them well.

Prince does look good in heels but heck he looks good in anything.
