PrINcE iN SiNgApOrE!!!

Hi...I am from Singapore... I've been a fan of Prince for about over a year...Our local newspaper has album reviews every Sunday...and features a Classic Of The Week album review alongside all the rubbish in the other "new" albums...and to my surprise Prince's "Sign O' The Times" appeared in the Classic review...Check out the review y'all...and tell me whaddya think...

CLASSIC OF THE WEEK

Mighty Midget: Hot and saucy...politically correct too

Prince
Sign O' The Times,1987

WHAT can you say about a man who taught himself to play more than 20 instruments by ear alone?
Heck, most people out there can't even name more than 20 instruments.
That's why Prince Roger Nelson, aka Prince, aka the unpronounceable symbol, aka The Artiste Formerly Known As Prince, aka The Artiste,is often hailed as a musical wizard, whose genius is eclipsed only by his eccentricity.
In the beginning, mainstream audiences found it hard to swallow Prince's enigmatic stage persona and unique melting pot of electro-funk,blues,gospel,rock,jazz,soul and R&B.
During the early 80's when he opened for The Rolling Stones,Prince was booed off stage by nearly 100,000 Stones fans when he came wearing only a trench coat and bikini briefs.
He only gained mainstream acceptance after his fourth album 1999,which spawned three hit singles(1999,Delirious and Little Red Corvette)stayed in the Billboard charts for three years.
But the two-disc Sign O' The Times will be the album that fans and critics alike will remember him for.
Sign reveals the "politically correct" side of the pint-sized prodigy, showing that he could do a lot more than write songs about getting his love groove on.
Like when he ponders the sorry state of the world, singing about Aids, hunger and drug abuse on the title track.
He also tackles intimacy and commitment on Forever In My Life, relationship role-reversals in If I Was Your Girlfriend, and even religion on The Cross.
But this wouldn't be a Prince record if there weren't any house party or raunchy bump-and-grind numbers.
It,Housequake,Slow Love,Hot Thing, and U Got The Look deliver the hot and saucy Prince we've all come to know and love.
If you're looking for the creative peak of the Mighty Midget from Minneapolis, this is it.
