Prince's Sleep around

I was watching the Oprha interview from 1996 last night and during his last performance I forgot how groovy and awesome “sleep around” is,

Anyone here like this song, I know the emancipation isn’t hailed here as much of some of the other albums.

This song turned up loud with a lot of bass really sounds great!

So what do you all think?

Anxiety

i dig this song - it's not one of his best by a long stretch, but i think it's awfully catchy, and the lyrics are kinda ranty and "what's he on about?!?" - which is the way i like my prince lyrics. nod

It is one of my favorite trax on Emancipation. I play it on a regular basis. The horns in the song kick major ass.

I really like Sleep Around, in part because I like when Prince plays old time band leader (like Ellington or Count Basie), which is the vibe I get from this song.

IMHO, the only way to deal with Emancipation is to use it as a basis for burning a CD of favorites - and Sleep Around definitely makes the cut.

Definately one of the top drawer tracks on Emancipation.

I love the lyrics, very clever/funny/cute.

Okay, let me see if I read this sentence correctly: You used to play "Sleep Around," until you died, at which point you first bought "Emancipation." The album soon started to irritate you. Are you sure it wasn't just the rigor mortis?

falloff no silly....i played the song out, you know over and over again until i couldn't get enough. Then i got tired of the song because of the overplaying and now i don't really listen to it anymore.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Thanks, I thought I remember reading something about Tower of Power in the liner notes to this song.

"Squibcakes" sounds like a character from SpongeBob Squarepants. giggle
