With the exception of the 1999:TNM ep, I like to consider myself someone who gives Prince money in exchange for new music. I'm a customer first, a fan second. It's a healthy distance to maintain. Prince doesn't owe me anything any more than I owe him anything. But if he has new music out that I want to hear, I owe him money if I am owed an album. That seems fair enough to me. I mean, am I missing something? The free stuff is cool, but it's not an obligation. Sure, we know he has lots of stuff he could share with fans, but the thing is, it's all his. He has every right to be stingy with it if he wants. Right?

Except, as I said, for 1999:TNM. If he wants me to listen to that shit, he's gonna need to fork over plenty $$$. And I do accept PayPal.

The latter half I was basically saying that as his music was not selling as much as he had hoped it would so he blamed Warners, then fucked off to EMI, that did not work, so gave up and went to internet to alienate his fans even more! He coulda just gone to an indie label or actually, just not screw warners and then none of this woulda happened!

Just saying prince really shoulda never left WB! I knoe now he has it good, BUT in mid 90's-late 90's I was annoyed at his internet retreat!

Through mail-order fiascos, announced projects that never see the light of day, over-pricing etc... he's still the man. i've decided that part of the deliciousness of being a prince geek is trying to go back and hunt down all those weird little limited-time goodies he's spewed forth over the years. my life won't end if i don't find them all, but it's a lotta fun when i come across something i wasn't around to grab up the first time around. i mean, it's only prince and it's only music and it's not air, food, water or shelter. it's supposed to be fun. yeah, the guy can be a jerk about how he puts out his product - but we've known this for HOW long?
