Is there anyone's music today that sounds like Prince's New Wave/Synth-Funk? I'm guessing only The Nep2unes and maybe Andre 3000. But even they can't even compare to that crazy sound of Prince. I really can't think of anyone else. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Felix Da HouseCat, in fact theres a song on his last album that sounds like a blatant ripoff of All The Critics Love You In NewYork. It's called "Everyone is Someone in LA"

I was gonna say Felix too. I mean it's not really a perfect match, but his last two LPs have been great synthpop. What about Ganymede, bit more like Pet Shop Boys, but they do great synthpop too

I cant think of anyone who really compares
I haven't heard anything by this Felix? I guess the Neptunes are about the closest I can think of? If you will, so will I

There's a girl out of Canada called "Peaches." Her music REALLY reminds me of the Dirty Mind era, as well as Vanity. Very stripped down funk. Old school drum machine (I don't think that it's the LINN drum though), bass, synth and that's about it.
Her lyrics are Very raunchy! Songs like "Fuck the pain away" remind me of an early Prince singing about fucking the taste out of your mouth. I describe it as Punk Funk. You listen to this and it makes you want to have a nasty sex session. I HIGHLY reccommend checking this out!

A Lot of Pahrell's sounds are very reminiscent of Prince's early sound. That song "Frontin'" is his version of "Kiss" IMO.

I just thought of some more: Benjamin Diamond 2000's LP 'Strange Attitude'. Some more French house Benjamin Cohen (Diamond) was also involved in Stardusts 'Music Sounds Better With You', which also featured Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter. Recommended tracks: - Strange Attitude - U Were Born - 18 & Over - Playin' With Myself - Rich Personality Mylo Just had a big hit with 2004 LP 'Destroy Rock & Roll'. Recommended tracks: - In My Arms (Very Daft Punk/80s - Sampling Kim Cearnes and Boy Meets Girl) - Guilty Of Love - Destroy Rock & Roll (the speech even name checks the acts of 1984/5 - inc. Prince, The Time & Apollonia 6 ) - Ottos Journey Alan Braxe & Fred Falke More French house goodness from the people who brought you Stardust & Daft Punk. Recommended tracks: - Rubicon (Is this 80s synthpop or what?! ) - Intro (You might know this one, it cleverly samples the 12" mix of The Jet's 'Crush On You') - Chrystal City - Love Lost - Arena Chromeo 2004's LP She's In Control. Very 80s Funk influenced (Cameo/Rick James even) Recommended tracks: - Woman Friend (Princely synths and handclaps here!) - Rage! (I can feel Controversy/1999 era Prince on this one!) - Needy Girl - Me & My Man (On A Plane) - You're So Gangsta Romanthony Did the vocals on a couple of the Daft Punk tracks (One More Time and Face 2 Face), bit of a Prince wannabe maybe. Recommended tracks: - Bring U Up - Feel Ya Love - ? or Luv - Countdown 2000 Playgroup More Disco-House goodness (from 2001) Recommended tracks: - Number one //// As for the Neptunes - puh-lease! I've had my fill of 'urban' pop. ยป NouveauDance [Edited 12/1/04 8:47am]

I've got some investigating to do then. I've heard of some names like the Jaxx and Peaches, but some others are new to me. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I think Gwen Stefani's new stuff really sounds like "Delirious" or 1999 era. I also think Me Shell's "Cookie" album sounds an awful like Prince. Van Hunt is close, but Bilal is better...

JC Chasez Kylie Minogue Basement Jaxx are absolutely awesome live... Probably one of the best live gigs Ive ever seen... But Kylie Minogue? Please... Honestly. Search Kazaa for "Almost A Lover" or "Harmony". Either one of those tracks sounds like "protogee" songs. Har Mar Supserstar is very Prince-esque too.
