It bores fast, which is not a good thing. Prince captivated at one time.

yeah. No matter how much you liked or disliked an 80's album, it would grow and age well with time.

Musicology was played for about 2 weeks in my car stereo (on and off) and I haven't listened to it in months.

I have two musicology Cd's and I've only listened to three of the songs.
Haters travel in packs and they are offended or threatened by klhk, haters express intense hostility toward the subject of hate. Haters are annoyed and roll thier eyes when klhk is paid a compliment. ask yourself, are u a hater?

IMO Rave was the last semi-good album he's put out.

I didnt listen to it in a week...but today I put several tracks in my Winamp in Shuffle mode (mainly other artists) and I felt very happy when ´What do u want me to do´ started to play.
It´s a very nice album. Clean and simple.

I got bored with my Musicology CD after only a few days. So I went to the local swap meeting and bought the screwed and chopped version of it. smile

I hadn't played it for a long time, but last week I listened to it again and I was pleasantly surprised. Most of the tracks are really good and had they been on an 80's album they would have been classics now. Well, maybe not all of them but anyway, great pop album. My only complaint would be that there isn't any anything new in these songs, but they are still quality Prince songs.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I still listen to Musicology and I still love it! With an avatar like mine, I'd better keep it on rotation.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I just broke mine out again after not listening to it for a couple of months but it was on my heavy rotation when it for came out for a long time. So what do you think of it now? I still love it! Anyone know what's in store for Prince next? Any albums coming out next year?

No, not really. As mentioned above - some of the old records just made my mouth drop. Adore - hello, what is this - woooow. ICNTTPOYM - I wonder you - Lady Cab Driver - 3 chains of gold etc etc. etc. These songs captured me.

I know you can't force genius - but on Musicology these magical moments are just not present.

And - no, I haven't listened to the album for quite some time now.

No. It's a solid album, tt's not like the album is filled with "Lady Cab Driver" -level classics.

I never believed I would say this, but I think the song 'Musicology' has become a Prince classic! And not only for me, I know.

Once that "Oooohh!" and the intro music start, I get happy.
While after first hearing the song I was like "mmm, ok, nothing special...".

The rest of the album is not that consistent to me, but I do like most songs.

I love the albumn. Although I was born in '84, I still get to listen to some of his old stuff and must admit that a lot of the old is good. I feel that Musicology brought in a new generation, while holding on to the old. It takes a real good musician to pull off something like that. That's why Prince has been and always will be the best. king

Musicology is boring and overrated. Rainbow Children had some balls, was much better: funky like 1+1+1=3 and really rocked like Family Name, but not mainstream for the hip hop fans.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

i think rainbow children would be able to attract
non prince fans if it wasnt for the scary sounding
voice overs, and cut straight into those great tracks

i know its all part of the story that makes the album
but sometimes i just couldnt be bothered and fast foward the 'voice'

i agree it though contains some awsome tracks

love that album

musicology is probably one of my least played prince albums.
though i do believe in the future i may grow fonder of it
dear mr.man's a great track

i agree. presently musicology is not in my disc changer and hasn't been since may.

it was an okay album, but seeing him live and listening to the club black bootleg does a lot more for me.

Like everybody else, just waiting for the next big thing from the little guy.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
