Has there ever been openers for Prin? If not , why hasn't he? Teena Marie for the "Dirty Mind tour". The Time for the "Controversy" tour. Vanity 6 and the Time for the "1999 / Triple threat" tour. Sheila E. for the "Purple Rain" tour. Fonky Bald Heads and Millenia for a recent tour (not sure which one). Larry Graham and Chaka Kahn for a recent tour (not sure which one). The Time for certain "Musicology" shows. Nikka Costa for certain "Musicology" shows. I may be missing some. "Always blessings, never losses......"

i loved D-influence. what happened to them? i remember being at the NIA in Birmingham for, i think, the Act II tour (?) when somebody was due to play support, and the announcer said, "due to unforseen circumstances, the support act will now play last, instead of first. But for now, we give you, Prince and the New Power Generation!!" Can't imagine that anyone hung around after for the support.

I know Mavis Staples opened up for Prince on the Nude tour in Ireland (July of 1990).
I don't know if she opened too many shows, but I was lucky enough to catch her there. Amazing performer. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. Prince doesn't need an opening act nowadays because he has too much music of his own and an opening act would take away some of his show time. Andy is a four letter word.

Has there ever been openers for Prin? If not , why hasn't he? I saw him during the Emancipation tour (at least I think that is what it was called--it was mostly hits and songs from New Power Soul). Larry G's group openned (yawn). The aftershow gig in Tampa's Millenium night club was really cool. The millinium was one of Tampa's most popular gay bars at the time. One of the men in the audienc up front handed prince his phone number in a slip of paper and prince without missing a beat found another man (he didn't look gay though--yes, I"m stereotyping) and placed it in his front shirt pocket. Very funny.

Shakespear's Sister - Glasgow '92. I was upset they had pulled Carmen Electra by this point of the tour.
I think 4 Non Blondes supported at Edinburgh in '93 (replacing the scheduled Jamiroquai) but I missed this show due to having booked a holiday already. Should have cancelled the holiday to be honest.
