I was reading somewhere that the Black Album was supposed to come out in '97.
Prince eledgidly had a trip on Extacy and had a weird religous expierience.
Someone or something told him not to publish the Black album.

SO Lovesexy I believe came out instead. Warner Bros eventually did release the Black Album in '95.

One of my 2 questions is, is that the way the album originally was in 1987.
And what did Prince witness when he had this psychedellic trip?

It was supposed 2 come out late in '87. Warners released it in '94, and yes it's pretty much the same, although there have been several bootleg versions floating around over the years.

The music is identical to the version I had owned since 88--no difference other than my boot version of Bob George had a small skip in it.

The packaging was slightly different I think--more identification on the 94 release.

Prince did trip back then but that was not the reason for the creation of the black album.

Now, Prince was on crack in that is the soul reason for The Rainbow Children release, however, but that's another thread entirely.
