i think it's B O R I N G. the only songs i like off of it were Kiss and Anotherloverholeinyohead. Those two songs "vibed" together. I think the whole album should've had THAT kind of sound. I like Girls and Boys too, but the rest of the album i was thinking " whatthefuckisthisshit?"

ah lovely, another intelligent orger with good taste in music. rolleyes neutral

Well, what do YOU think about it? It's my opinion, or is that ANOTHER right gay people are getting taken away from them? I didn't like it. And it's obvious i have good taste in music since i decided to not purchase the album. So circle does not get the square, thank you for playing, game over, goodnight.

That album is probably my favorite, and it DEFINATELY had to grow on me. I think it's because it's such a complicated, graceful, and sophisticated album. Give it time. nod

What does being gay have to do with any of this? Jeez!

For the record though, it is my favourite Prince album although when I got it for my 15th birthday I was kind of bewildered by it, but then that was part of the fun (and yes P I do miss the feeling your music gave me back in the day).

I agree. Many parts of that album is boring. Prince fooled a lot of people into buying that album by releasing "Kiss" before it came out and making them think they were going to get an album full of jams.. This album drove away herds of Prince fans.

So your point is any prince album that does not sound like 1999 is boring, right? Prince is more than just 1999. Prince wanted to grow as an artist.

I didn't appreciate Parade when it first came out, but now I do. Every song ties beautifully together IMO, particulary the first three.

Every Prince album prior to "Parade" was also different than the one before it. "Parade" was just dull. Like someone else said, "too much elevator music".

Besides my other comment, I'm suprised some don't even like 'Wonder U', that's like the funkiest track and how about 'Sometimes it snows in April' and "Mountains'...I think those who don't like, need to give it a couple of more listens.....!!!!

- I was thinking the same thing....I love ´I wonder U´...one of my faves

I love 'I wonder U' also. The vocals are strange to me. Is that Wendy and Lisa w/out Prince? I know this probably has been asked before. Sorry.

Apparently he didn't care because he later released "The Truth" which is a whole album that gave a whole new meaning to the word "dull".

why yes it is.....that would be their first official lead vocal release..... wink

and i love this album.....theres so much more to it if you give your ears the chance to listen.....sure, at first some of the songs seem to short..the choruses to often repeated..but underneath it is a vibrant album that paints many colors....its in the vocal arrangements...in the chord changes.....heck, even the song seguences are perfect..

funny story time: i had dubbed a tape of this from my aunt many years back..gosh i must have been 11 or so.....well, i dubbed in reverse and always thought Mountains was the first track and Venus the conclussion...

i sorta like listening to it that way still.. biggrin

Hey SOS, nice to know that you know you're stuff about music. Not just "That was a good song." I can still kick myself for not meeting you guys and gals in Oakland the other day. duh

I don't know how cheesy it sounds but one of my favorite Prince songs is SOMETIMES IT SNOWS IN APRIL. His voice is so mournful and sincere. Although the song is obviously about death the chord changes are very optomistic,"maybe I'll see my Tracy again" NEW POSITION - funky as hell!!!!! I WONDER U - very ethereal, it almost sounds backwards. I actually watched UTCM recently and really really enjoyed it. Fun movie.
