"Seeing Prince on his recent tour was the consummate experience for me. The music was exceptionally outstanding. His range, versatility, and true talent never shined more. I equate the performance and his talent to two of my favorite idols of all time, Frank Sinatra and Elvis. It was that moving an experience for me, and it made me feel good to be in the music business, which I haven't felt in a long time."

Usher, showman
"I saw him perform in New York City, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Though I wasn't young enough to listen to his music when it first came out—or understand it!—it was still as if it was the first time he'd ever performed it for me. The reason I say 'for me' is that he's able to make his audience feel personal, like he's performing to them. And that's talent. That's truly what entertainment is about."

Celebrities are so smart.

What? That sounds like George Bush talking about Bill Clinton-- A lot of bullshit followed by the necessary reverence for the greater man!

You must have missed his little Vibe interview. You should read that and then you'd probably not think too highly of him. After reading it, I realized that he really is a pompous asshole. I used to think he was a nice guy, but to write a whole album about cheating on your girlfriend is pretty disgusting. So, I guess it's okay for celebrities to cheat on their other halfs if they write songs and do movies about it? confused He's a mediocre talent, and that's me being nice. If I ever saw him, I'd spit in his face.

Anyone arguing that Usher compares to Prince is either young or clueless, lol. Probably 9/10 times its the former, y'all...ease up fishslap Give Usher 20 years, see how (if?) he grows as a musician...and THEN let's come bash him lol He's a singer, he takes his cues from MJ "sing and dance" and he is pretty good at those. C'mon, Prince never could dance like that, lol...then again Usher spends hours practising dances in the mirror while Prince is writing music...looking in the mirror. cool

Don't get me wrong, usher is a pretty good singer and dancer. He even can play drum kit pretty well 2. But in terms of talent and genius, yes, Prince does destroy ol' Ursher. eye even remember when he was around the time of his "My Way" album (which was quite good on account of Babyface writing it, as well as his 1st album), on his "Nice & Slow" and "U Make Me Wanna..." videos and performances, he used 2 play little guitar lines 2 imply that he was a guitar player. On any instrument, whether it's drums, voice, and especially the guitar, Prince could mop the floor with Ursher wih his pinky toe alone!!!

When u peops gonna understand??? Why u keep comparing Prince to Usher. They both very different. I dont like Usher either but thats cuz its just not my thing...But im sure there are thousands of artists i can name that are way worse than Usher...

But i guess its just cuz he's famous now....dont blame the guy for selling records...blame the peop who buy them.... smile

For real, yo... We are doing Usher a favor by comparing him to Prince

Usher utilizes his voice as an instrument, while Prince is a musical GENIUS.

I'm not feelin' Usher, either- but this is really NO comparison

rolleyes Because Usher is a self centered, 80's Michael Jackson rip-off, Viacom man whore who lacks most forms of real talent (and intelligence) that doesn't involve taking his shirt off to make 12 year old girls squeal and run out for a re-released copy of his latest half-assed mediocre album that then hits #1 on the charts because the label paid the 'Hit' radio stations and TRL to make his music "cool", bypassing any real need for focusing on the music. Because, Hey, why care about the quality of the music when they can capitalize on the MTV teeny-boppers who will buy just about anything thats "in", right?

Fad? Regardless of what you think of Usher and his talent, he's built up his career one album at a time, each one getting better, and each one getting him a bigger fan base than the one before. That's the way it should be, unlike the crap we have now with the Ashlee Simpsons of the world getting pushed in everyones face when you could easily find 100 people with more talent than her at your local grade school...

Though I agree with you that asslee (no mistake there, ever seen her face?) is much worse than Ursher, like just about all the teeny pop stars, he is still much more hype than he is talent, his cookie cut videos and subpar songs are shoved down our throats on radio stations just like the rest of them. He's gotten to the point where he can't do a song slow or fast with someone screamin/ YEEEAAAAHHH and OOOKKKAAAAYYYYY over the vocals, it's all just mindless drivel to me. That's what's wrong with todays pop stars, they can't put on a good show!! Anyone can put out a single, do a 30 sec pop&lock routine, or perform one song, but a true performer and artist has the whole package, singing, dancing, and some REAL musical knowledge that shows in their presentation, and mastery of the stage and their band. No, everyone DOES NOT have to be a musical genius, playing dozens of instruments, but those who really know and hone their craft are true musical artists to me. the rest are just all hype. I saw Usher on the BET awards last year and he was so exhausted after a 2 minute dance sequence that when he went to sing a ballad, the vocals were absolutely HORRID!!!! Not good showmanship at all. confused
