rolleyes Because Usher is a self centered, 80's Michael Jackson rip-off, Viacom man whore who lacks most forms of real talent (and intelligence) that doesn't involve taking his shirt off to make 12 year old girls squeal and run out for a re-released copy of his latest half-assed mediocre album that then hits #1 on the charts because the label paid the 'Hit' radio stations and TRL to make his music "cool", bypassing any real need for focusing on the music. Because, Hey, why care about the quality of the music when they can capitalize on the MTV teeny-boppers who will buy just about anything thats "in", right?

Don't get me wrong, usher is a pretty good singer and dancer. He even can play drum kit pretty well 2. But in terms of talent and genius, yes, Prince does destroy ol' Ursher. eye even remember when he was around the time of his "My Way" album (which was quite good on account of Babyface writing it, as well as his 1st album), on his "Nice & Slow" and "U Make Me Wanna..." videos and performances, he used 2 play little guitar lines 2 imply that he was a guitar player. On any instrument, whether it's drums, voice, and especially the guitar, Prince could mop the floor with Ursher wih his pinky toe alone!!!
all eye can do, is just offer U my love...

DJINFINITE

it's it nice 2 see that the rest of the recording music industry reconizes
Prince 4 his incrdible talent when most of the buying public, cannot.as they say great minds think alike as do great musicians thus I guess is the difference from the public who consume what ever the conglomerate music industry feeds them.versus the one wether writer,dj's,singers, dancers, composers, producers, who appreciate music 4 what it truly is.& that is quite simply 1 of Gods greatest gifts 2 us.

He's stupid. I'm the same age as Usher and I have been a Prince fan since I was 6 and understood most of what he was talking about in his songs, except I didn't think fuck was a bad word because they played erotic city on the radio like crazy. I thought "It's on the radio, so it must be ok." My mom told me I couldn't play the song anymore after hearing me sing "We can fuck until the dawn..." even though she was the one who bought me the "Let's go crazy" 45!

But i guess its just cuz he's famous now....dont blame the guy for selling records...blame the peop who buy them.... smile

Funkylefty

Usher, showman
"I saw him perform in New York City, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Though I wasn't young enough to listen to his music when it first came out—or understand it!—it was still as if it was the first time he'd ever performed it for me. The reason I say 'for me' is that he's able to make his audience feel personal, like he's performing to them. And that's talent. That's truly what entertainment is about."

What? That sounds like George Bush talking about Bill Clinton-- A lot of bullshit followed by the necessary reverence for the greater man!

Jermaine Dupri, producer
"I remember when I was 8, Prince was opening for Rick James, and my mother was getting baptized, but she had to see Prince, so we left church early so my mom could see him. I didn't even know who he was, but she made sure that I did."

Cool story! His mom was pretty liberal to take him to a Prince/Rick James concert when he was only 8!!

Gwen Stefani, singer
"[No Doubt] was playing in Minneapolis, and I looked out from the stage at the soundboard, and I could see this silhouette of Prince watching me. I was like, 'Fuck!' because I was having a really bad show. So he invites us to come to Paisley Park afterward, and we're just tripping. Everything's Prince—the carpet's Prince, the wall is Prince, it's this crazy magical place. There's a club there that he plays sometimes, and he comes gliding down in his velour suit, totally made up beautifully. Then he plays for like three hours! He's like, 'Hey, you guys want to go jam with me?' It was just this magical experience. And he gave it to us, you know? He knew that he was a big inspiration to us."

This story is hardly new. Gwen mentions it all the time. She is obviously a huge fan

Usher is such a no-talent hack. Even including him in this is pretty ridiculous.

Eric Jerome Dickey, chick-lit author
"Watching him rock the house in the Louisiana Superdome at Essence Festival '04 was like a revival at the purple gates of heaven. His talent is infinite, and his music timeless. And his persona? If Morris Day is cool, then Prince is frozen."

Sheeeeeit! Prince is a friggin' ice age!!

Carmen Electra, temptress-spokesmodel
"I used to dance at Glam Slam, Prince's club in Los Angeles. Our choreographer would always do a couple of Prince songs for every show. My favorite songs to dance to were 'Peach' and 'Pussy Control.' There's so much emotion in his songs. He just makes you feel. But there's nothing like seeing him live. I was his opening act on his Diamonds and Pearls tour in Europe in the early '90s. He's brilliant. He's just an amazing performer, and he taught me so much by just watching him onstage."

Ahhh, yes. There is no better reminder that, while Prince is a genius, he still is a mere mortal, than the fact that he got Carmen Elektra's career started!

Fred Armisen, Saturday Night Live cast member, Prince impersonator
"When I saw him on the Lovesexy Tour, he came out driving a Thunderbird, then got out of the car and launched into 'Erotic City.' Immediately, he's down on all fours under this woman, circling around her. That's the way to make an entrance! Anyone else would have come out with their guitar and yelled, 'What's up, everybody?' He believes in a party; he believes in music as a social event. He's got a great sense of humor, too. He's a little bit like Clara Bow and Charlie Chaplin. I saw him in Chicago, and he was like, [in a low murmur] 'Does anyone have a place I can stay tonight? Eat some Häagen-Dazs, watch some HBO?' And all these women went crazy: 'Stay with me!' That's better than any rock banter."

Sweet! And he hit the nail on the friggin' head!

Kurt Loder, MTV elder statesmen
"Prince has always had an eye on the sky. Some years ago, I was backstage with him at a show in Paris, listening to a tape of some new songs he was playing on a pink boom box. The stuff sounded...well, what do you think? It sounded great. I told him this, and I swear he lowered his eyes and said, 'I'm just taking dictation.'"

Dude, Kurt obviously worships P. Good thing though. Someone over at MTV needs to remind the younguns what real music is!!

Tommy Mottola, chairman and CEO of Casablanca Music
"Seeing Prince on his recent tour was the consummate experience for me. The music was exceptionally outstanding. His range, versatility, and true talent never shined more. I equate the performance and his talent to two of my favorite idols of all time, Frank Sinatra and Elvis. It was that moving an experience for me, and it made me feel good to be in the music business, which I haven't felt in a long time."

Ahhh, the irony!!! A record label exec saying Prince made him feel good about being in the music biz! The very type of person P has been battling against for years.

I know that Mottola has said for years that he want to land P on his label. Keep trying, Tommy!
