How come no one ever gives props to "Eye Hate U"? That is my pick for best song because it combines all the best things about Prince: chord progressions that move you, funky bass line, sung as only he can sing, the concept behind a love/hate relationship, vocal harmonies... and just when you think you've heard it all a guitar solo that has given me chills 100 times in a row. My fav Prince song changes pretty much daily it has been(in order):

I don't understand how somebody could say Mountains. That song has no substance at all. It's a simple pop song. It lacks that true Prince touch. For me the choice would have to be a song that only Prince could do. When Doves Cry is the best example. Joy in Repetition would be my second choice.
This is different than my favorite Prince song which is probably Dionne or Irresistable Bitch depending on my mood. For me there is a distinction between my favorite and the "best" if that's possible to determine. I just figure the best song should be something that is a signature Prince song that is appreciated by many-- fans and non-fans alike. |

U just might be, paisley...Nah, I'm pretty sure it's in my Top 10 of favorite Prince songs. LOVE it! It's a definitive Prince song -- the contradictory lyrics and emotions, the vocals, the squeeling guitar, the beautiful harmony and melody... even some spoken parts. It's got it all. | |

Really tough 2 choose, but when cornered I generally choose Ballad of Dorothy Parker, The Beautiful Ones, & Power Fantastic as my favorites. Also the Holy River is up there. | |
