More CD's than before in the Wrecka Stows? Whilst looking around my local Virgin Megastore in sunny Shrewsbury in the UK today, I noticed how they very suddenly seemed to have rather a lot of Prince CDs in.
Normally, they've got about six copies of the latest Best Of, a couple of Purple Rains and Sign O The Times' and a handful of Musicology CDs. However today, as well as those CDs, there were about three copies of Dirty Mind, a Graffiti Bridge, a Lovesexy or two, two Rainbow Childrens, a Prince, a 1999, and ATWIAD and Parade. Are Warner's pushing him in the UK at the mo? They were not part of any kind of promotion or sale and were selling at full price. Has anybody else noticed more Prince CD's in the racks of late?

I would say that since i live in NYC, i always found whatever i was looking for somewhere, so I'ma little biased--
...but I can say that they certainly did up the prices on the badboys-- in about 2002 i payed 9.00 for emancipation-- I bet i couldnt find that price for any Prince cd now since he's had a resurgence into the popworld, and a very successful tour featuring the hits off these old wreckads. I live in a small town (compared to most) and saw about 3-dozen Prince CDs at Tower the other day -- what surprised me most is that they had For You and Prince in there among the more popular classics (Purple Rain, 3 copies of Sign, and a handful of Musicology). They even had the "Come On" CD-single.

Actually in all Wreaka Stows that I've been too, or Wrecka Departments in other Stows, there have been very few to none Prince CD's. However, when I went Shopping in another City about a Month ago, their Wreak Stow had about ALL of them! But the Prices left something to be desired. Mostly when I have seen any in Stows it has been several of the same kind.....usually "The Very Best Of" and "Musicology".

Oh yes you can. Just look around, the Internet, that is. Or just ask me and I'll let you know of a few places.

Hadn't really thought to look at that. But I did notice, mid-year, that my fave used CD source (secondspin.com) hardly had any Prince CD's at all; they used to have at least one copy of nearly every album. (However, more recently, they've replenished their stocks.) "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

The A&B Sound here has always carried a shiteload of Prince albums, even relatively (where I live anyway) hard to find ones like For You, ATWIAD, and Come.
I've definitely noticed an increase at HMV though. Pre-Musicology, you were lucky if you found one or two copies of Purple Rain and The Very Best of... Since the tour and album, they've had those as well a decent selection of others. AND they've stopped being bitchy about ordering albums. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

yerah they definately do, at least HMV, i noticed it at some random point, i can't remember when, cos it was before musicology, suddenly prince albums were all there. from only having the major ones like you say, i remember my hmv basically having all the 'prince' albums from 78 to 94 or something. it was bizarre!
its all good though, apart from sign being £19.99! do you think they would have pressed more cds lately or just had em stocked away somewhere? would be interesting to see official uptodate sales for the UK, i can imagine they need updating generally.
