I have a question that I need some serious help on. I was with my Godmother recently and while I was attempting to listen to Prince, she and her husband began telling me something that I desire to get clarity on. They said years ago Prince was associated with the now deceased Anton LeVay who headed the church of satan. They said there were stories on 60 minutes and so forth. I didn't believe it. The past really doesn't matter because Prince is who he is in Christ, but I just wanted to get some support that it's NOT true - or is it. I could only say that I didn't believe it. If I didn't see the interview and if I never heard him say it, then I just don't believe it. Do any of you know?????

oh, prince never had any affiliation with anton levay. that's just silly. maybe your grandparents are confusing prince with sammy davis, jr., who was reported to be a friend of levay, or maybe they're confusing him with marilyn manson, who was also close with levay.

heck, i remember when i was a kid my grandmother tried to make me believe prince used to bring out a trash bag full of condoms at shows and throw them at the audience.

As for the truthfulness of this matter, I have been a Prince fan since 1979 and have never heard anything about Prince being a Satan worshipper from the media except for sarcastic remarks coming from average everyday so-called "moral" individuals.

One word: Ludicrous. I've been a hardcore fan since I was six, followed all the newspaper articles and TV stories, and never once heard something so absurd. Rest assured, your grandma is getting him confused with someone else.

They say that if you play "The Cross" backwards it has LaVey reading passages from the Satanic Bible. But the weird thing is that HE himself is reading the passages backwards, so if you want to understand what he's saying you had to record the sound of the Cross playing backwards and then play THAT tape backwards, and then you heard the words: "YOU WILL BUY ALL PRINCE CRAP REGARDLESS OF QUALITY FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS... AND YOU SHALL ALSO LOVE THY NEIGHBOR, AS LONG AS THEY BE GOTHIC & WICCAN"

And I also heard once that if you listen really closely to the end of S&M Groove you can hear LaVey whipping some poor little 7 y/o with the cat-of-nine-tails.

You know this DOES sound kinda vaguely familiar, I repeat "kinda vaguely" familiar. I wouldn't dismiss it so quick as nonsense. I do remember something way back in the day being said about mr. levay and a favorite rock star of mine. It could've been nothing though, like he came to a show and they met afterward. And it's very possible I'm getting my rock stars mixed up too. So I'm prolly no help, and shouldn't have even answered.

Thanks for the input.  I had never heard it either, but my Godparents (not grandparents) declare that the media had this truthfully reported.  I NEVER HEARD IT and I have been into his stuff for YEARS!
