" Annie Christian"

This song is both brilliant, and disturbing.(Damn how does he do that!) with some of his finest guitar work. Show your love.

I love this song! I always wondered how he did it LIVE in concert!
It always reminded me of music on a PacMan game biggrin

Love it! I consider it a precursor to 'Lady Cab Driver' for obvious reasons.

Love this song, sits right next to count the days on my music playlist. How Prince ever ended up as a JW is beyond me with songs like this.

Great song! Perfect example of Reason # 1 why myself and others miss 80's Prince. The head-fucking sound, yet serious subject matter is brilliant! Attention getting because it was out of the ordinary.

I'm not calling for "Annie Christian: Part 2", but why doesn't he do this type of song anymore?

The synth is the part that drew me into the song. Everytime I hear it, I go crazy.

"Annie-Annie Christian, Anti-Christ." Genius...

i first heard this when i was 13, and i'd play it over and over and over -- it was my favorite on the album back then... i have hard time understanding people who give it bad criticism... it's all good!

I think that the whole taxi cab thing has to do with anonymity. If you lived your life in taxi cabs you can never really be identified. It's kind of a paranoid thought. He doesn't want the anti-christ on his tail.

I too love this one....it was one of those I played over and over again as a 14 yr old. Even then I understood the Anti Christ reference, but even if I didn't understand the other parts, I understood the "mood" of the song, and to that I could relate.... wink

This song blew my mind and twisted me all around. Much of had to do with the winding guitar solo at the end, it always'd seem like it could go on. The references to religion, crime and sex all fit into the same bite. It was confusing, the love can be or your relationship with lord versus what is really going on in the world according to media. This song struck such a chord with me.It was the best of times, it was the worst of time and Prince live in the tale of twin cities. I shouldn't go there with all the comparison and contrast..I still live life in taxi-cabs. I used to imagine that he would play that song live one day and follow up with "Does not compute" - I was a little bit ashamed of my chosen nickname after Larry Graham entered and smashed the picture. mad . I pray for day when when Prince will play with that kind of anguish again. "Put your head the block somebody say ABSCAM! " Those were the true lyrics, but I always heard..."Put your head the block. Somebody say; "ASK HIM". as if you were praying for forgiveness, but you would never get it if your name was Annie Christ. eek I didn't know I felt this way.
