Late at night, when the world is sleeping
U r frightened, cause the power's creeping In ur room is something u're afraid of Life or doom is what this feelings made of Power fantastic Is in ur life at last U're a little apprehensive Cause what it is is what u want and need Minor g is the chord of pleasure It will be played eleven measures U will see fire, but u're cool as ice U lie if u say this isn't nice. Power fantastic Is in ur life at last U're a little apprehensive What it is is what u want and need Power, power Power fantastic Is in ur life at last U're a wee bit apprehensive Cause what it is is what u want and need Power, power, power fantastic

What an incredible song. It's so beautiful, I feel like I'm on a trip when I listen to it. In fact, I was playing it a lot last week. Easily in my top 10 Prince songs. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Okay I'm a dork. I used to sing "isn't your life elastic." You are the only people I have admitted this to. I'm sooooo embarrased.....okay I'm over it.
Beautiful song. For whatever reason everytime I think of this song I also think of Crucial. Miguel MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! Thanks girl, I needed that. Sometimes a hug will just do...you know? I love the last six heeees that he sings in this song along with the flute. I wonder if Eric Leeds was playing the flute for this song. I met Eric, he's a very nice guy. We talked SAX. I used to play. 'Power Fantastic' sounds like Prince and the Revolution had just swallowed Miles Davis' 'Kind of Blue' and then spat it out again, with a touch of added Joni Mitchell. Gorgeous.

I wish I was joking... I seriously thought he said "elastic."

I wish I was joking... I seriously thought he said "elastic." Cool!! We must tell everyone on the org that when Prince sings the supposed "is in your life at last", last doesn't have three syllables. Elastic does....hmmmmm something for them to think about. There's definately an "ic" at the end of that line. But I think the thing about this song that gets me is that beautiful piano opening and closing. Those first couple of notes you hear in the beginning are just so wonderful to hear on a stressful day... Ooh, little darlin' if you're

I listened to this song again this morning and yes, i believe he does say "is in your life at last"...for some reason the cymbol sound at the end of the lyric "last" makes you believe it's elastic instead of last. Strange but true. Walking alone in the dark, I see nothing u see

One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard; ethereal. Every part of this song is on point; the horns, the drumming, the piano, and Prince's vocals are all exquisite. All in one take, with Lisa Coleman playing alone upstairs while the band played in the basement studio, that is amazing!!!

you know..i think i would soo love to have a glass of Funkmistress' wine with Lisa and listen to this song and ask her what her thoughts on it are... Lisa seems to bleed her emotions through her fingers when she plays....thats what makes this song so haunting..you can feel the pain of her isolation.... and chico...i thought those were her lyrics...
