The Voice Inside...... I recenty got ahold 2 this GEM! I think that, The voice inside, captures princes overall sound. Its so fresh & amazing! it sound like he recorded it back doing the lovesexy era,but its so ahead of its time, that if released 2day it would blow every1 elses music away.I instantly liked it on the first listen! hit repeat 20+ times, its got that funkyass bassline, with the badass horns and the melodies jus twist & turn,u know, that experimental shit that we all love.I cant help but wonder y was this never released? 4 it would have been a huge hit. With purple gems like these 1 can only wonder what else lay in the sacred purple vault!.....WOW! ...how deep does that funky purple hole goes?

You're right it was from 1988 - placed at one time on the original Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic in fact

It's a great song indeed, but on a negative note I do have to say that the song stylistically and mood-wise can be seen as a blue print for a lot of the early 90s Paisley Park dross that he wrote for other artists.

It reminds me of Trust a little too. Prince really had a formulaeic sound then, it wasn't necessarily bad, but it's one he's never really left, you can hear the sterility of it on stuff like The Gold Experience and Emancipation, NPS, Rave, Musicology. It kind of came from the Lovesexy sound, you can hear it in Madhouse 16, 24 and the Lovesexy b-sides. I think it came from being cooped up at Paisley Park.
