Hi everyone, I am new to the forum! Remember watching Prince during his heydey in 84-85 when I was in elementary school . . . man, brings back so many memories when I bought the 20th anniversary DVD and watched it!!! I remember having this weird aversion to Prince (sorta like how Beyonce was scared of him when she was little!), but now I see why everyone was obsessed with him!

Ok - can anyone tell me where/when the video for I Would Die 4 U was shot? What part of the tour was this? Is this the same video that ran pretty much nonstop on MTV?

In the Let's Go Crazy video, it looks like there are a lot of scenes that were deleted from the movie (scenes with Prince in the warehouse where Apollonia 6 rehearse, where he appears to be attacking someone, a scene with Apollonia being dragged off in the dark) - are these available on the original copy of Purple Rain, or are they gone forever?

Welcome. Let me be the first to say that I love your site name. I assume that you are speaking of the live version of IWD4U. I believe this video is from the March 30, 1985 concert in Syracuse, NY. This video is also on The Hits Collection and the Prince & the Revolution concert video that was released back in 1985. Both are not very hard to acquire.

I have been looking for an uncut version of Purple Rain for many years and to my knowledge those deleted scenes are not available for purchase legally or on the black market. It is very hard for me to believe that the deleted footage has been lost or destroyed. I know they exist is some form. Believe it or not, some of the scenes that were cut earned the movie an "X" rating by the MPAA before it was released. It is my belief that only two people have access to these scenes. Albert Fargnoli and Prince. If any fans had access to an uncut version of PR, it would definitely be in the hands of bootleggers by now. Someday I will see these scenes with my own eyes.

I HAD A FORUM ABOUT THIS A FEW MONTHS AGO, I BELIEVE THAT THE DELETED SCENES ARE LOST FOREVER, I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO GET MY HANDS ON THEN SOMEHOW.
