im sorry but a friend let me borrow the cd and it is horrible that Prince had the same song with different beats.i mean he could have released it as a single or something with a new song or 2 but the same sond 7 times is a mistake

the packaging is really nice, but yeah. i think i've listened to my copy maybe once all the way through. actually, i think i've put my copy in a cd player once, period. i do kinda like a couple of the mixes on that EP, though - i've heard them in different contexts, and they sound good when they're not sandwiched between a kajillion other lame edits and mixes of the song.

I enjoyed the house version. Prince is not a house artist but the track was decent.

Your right - same song different beats - I think I remember somewhere he released it as a test to see if he could sell CD's without WB

But I think the reason why "The Beautiful Experience" EP is what it is,
is because he wasn't allowed to release anything else at that time.

Warners was fucking pissed enough already and he had only been given a
green light for one particular song, and only ONE.

So, being Prince and being creative as he is, he probably thought he'd
just contruct a clever little mini album around the structure of that
one song.

I remember reading in several music mags at the time that he'd planned
on releasing an EP called "The beautiful Experience" that would have
included different mixes of other songs too, like "Come" and "Race" &
such.

Wish he would have been able to do that instead. But obviously he wasn't
and for some sense of pride with the song and as a piss off at Warners
he must have made this. An album to release when you're not allowed to,
although the album consists of a basic melody that runs through all the
seperate songs, an melody that you were given green light for by WB in
the first place.

The Mustang Mix is ace though

I bought this the day it came out,played it a few times,and never touched it again.From what I recall,a few of the remixes feature Mayte repeating over and over..."Like he said,you're a sexy mutha" But I really like the packaging.

Oh, of course... that wasn't Prince back then. They were two different people according to 's own words.

I remember something about Prince wanting to release other songs, but since WB would only let him release TMBGITW on his own, he opted for this idea.

I also remember Mayte being interviewed and saying "If you ignore the words, there are really seven different songs on the EP" or some other BS along those lines...

I also remember this came out in the UK the same day as Seal's second album, which I'd been waiting for for almost three years. That got a lot more play in my house than TBE, with the exception of the Mustang Mix, of course.

IT IS A MAXI-SINGLE. Take it for what its worth. I wish he would give every single that sort of treatment. The SPACE maxi is great. I long for maxi singles like Space, TMBGITW, and The Scandalous Sex Suite(foreign release).
