With the thread on "the beutiful experience" recently, I just thought of the few maxi singles he did:-

1) THE BEUTIFUL EXPERIENCE
2) CREAM
3) NEW POWER GENERATION
4) THE SCANDAOLOUS SEX SUITE

(is there any more.....I cannot rmemeber anymore?)

plus

5) Gett off (maxi single home video...count the mixes as audio and not visuel)


Whats ur fave?

Mine! I pick "cream".....how long was that maxi single? I always play the NPG mix of "cream" over the original, and the phone conversations r cool too! Good to c Prince not taking things so seriously back then!

Also "do your dance", with great vox by the steeles, is a great party jam that is a great song in it's own right! "get some solo" may be short, but the guitar playing (by Levi I assume) is hella good.....the ending to the song is funny too!

Least fav is "the beutiful experience".....pretty boring to me, and at least "the scandalous sex suite" had "sex" on it!


Good time to be a Prince fan too (during "cream" time)! Video was everywhere, prince and NPG were everywhere, Prince seemed freash image wise again and I knew at the time some people who bought "cream" maxi single! Plus single was no.1 too!


"gett off" does have "gangster glam" though, which is killer too!

Don't forget The Good Life maxi single, which probably wins just cos of the Big City remix

oh, and the Gett off maxi single was on audio. It made the album charts in the UK (though the video's great too). That comes a close second just cos of Violet the Organ Grinder.

There is indeed a Gett Off maxi audio CD, and it is awesome. Violet The Organ Grinder does it for me. For me, it's a toss up between the Gett Off maxi, and the Japanese Scandalous Sex Suite, which is a combination of both the US SSS and the Partyman remixes with Feel U Up. Oh f. it, the Japanese SSS is his best maxi single by a long shot. How can you beat something that has the guitar from Rapture, When 2 R In Love, Sex, the Purple Party Mix and Feel U Up?

hmm, good point! I got maxi singles that r on vinyl so I don't know.....mI think maxi singles have more mixes/tracks then 12".....12" only usually have a couple of tracks only!

A maxi-single is the same as a 12" single. It doesn't have the comprise of remixes. It can be made up of extended versions or full-length versions.

Anyway - I vote for

I quite liked the My Name Is Prince maxi singles. How many were there? I seem to remember there being (at least) two different versions - a German one (I think) with 5 tracks, and another one. Anyone?

A maxi-single as far as this thread is concerned is one of those 30 or so minute CD singles, with several tracks. That includes:

* Scandalous Sex Suite (5 tracks, or 9 tracks for the Japanese release which includes Partyman remixes)
* New Power Generation (6 tracks, or 9 tracks for the Japanese release which includes Thieves In The Temple remixes)
* Gett Off (6 tracks, or 12 tracks for the Japanese release which includes Cream remixes)
* Cream (9 tracks)
* My Name Is Prince (5 tracks)
* The Beautiful Experience (7 tracks)
* Letitgo (8 tracks)
* Space (5 tracks)
* 1999 The New Master (7 tracks)
*The Greatest Romance Ever Sold (8 tracks ?)

As far as I see, only a few of these are like mini-albums, where the remixes and b-sides are different recordings or different songs. They are SSS, NPG, Gett Off, Cream, and The Beautiful Experience.

12 inch, maxi, extended version, whatever, Mountains is one the best 'long' versions...
