What went wrong with Wendy & Lisa? What happened between the 3? and are Wendy & Lisa a couple? Socks still got butt like a leather seat...

Well...W & L are indeed a couple...and I commend them!!! A long lasting gay couple can seem unheard of (believe me...I KNOW!)
I think Prince was just ready to move on. It was said back around '86 after the mad recording they were doing that P was going back to working alone more and more. He just felt he needed new direction and felt he needed to do it alone....At one point he might have felt a little regret..(hence...In This Bed Eye Scream)... I for one would LOVE to see a reunion but with Prince going JW and W&L not expressing much interest in a reunion...were more likely to see cows fly! Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Additionally, Wendy has expressed her discomfort with having Susannah suddenly join the band during the last few "Counter-Revolution" days in 1986. She said that Prince and Susannah had a very volatile relationship and the arguments between her sister and Prince got very 'ugly' I think it would have been terribly difficult being in the middle of all that and trying to maintain a professional distance from the drama.

Actually, I think they told him they were leaving and that's when he disbanded the Revolution. I think he's bitter about it too, to some extent, hence the missing W&L bits on CB and the fact that none of their collaborations with him from back then ever turn up.

Hey Aaron!
Thanx for that...I heard that story too....hmmmm...that could be the right one....Prince has been known to be QUITE BITTER!!! (Shocker!) I think it was an old Black Beat mag that stated that he fired them first...oh well whateva happened...happened and our only hope is for many of those songs to see the light of day sometime!!!!! I have many bootlegged but it would be awesome to get them with excellent quality! peace Aaron said: VANITYSprisonBYTCH said: I think Prince was just ready to move on. people, do you even know who or what you are talking about ?
If you don't knnow the real truth about what happened, don't make shit up. It doesn't make you look like some Prince expert, but an babbling idiot. Wendy and Lisa Quit. Yes Prince did say when it first happened that he fired them. But that was just a lie. And since then Prince has been very bitter. This is WHY HE NEVER WANTED DREAM FACTORY TO SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY. And you never see anything with their name attached to it In 2000 Prince called W&L and asked them if they wanted to play on VH1 Honors. They said yes, "Let's do an accustic version of Purple Rain, or another song." Prince said no let's just go on stage and jam something instrumental. They said they had no interst in just jamming. And Prince never got back to them. "You were singing songs about life or doom, I was singing songs to you...." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album. "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

If you read the 'DMSR' book, you will read all about the reasons for Wendy and Lisa's departure (from "insiders" who were there).

I liked Wendy.. she was a sparkling and rosey element to the core of the Revolution.

They must have been in touch in 1989 as he did a remix of Lolly Lolly for them...

Actually chookalana before you tell someone to get it right, you might want to. Prince wanted to do a medley of hits of the Revolution, each song being under two minutes and Wendy and Lisa walking through the crowd with a parade of people behind them. Wendy and Lisa suggested why not do a couple whole songs on acoustic instruments just the 3 of us? Gee, I know which one I would prefer to see. And Prince disbanded the Revolution, they didn't quit. The breakup actually shook them up very deeply. On Entertainment Tonight a year after the breakup, Wendy said, "Lisa and I weren't going, "Man, I can't wait til we get out here" and on MTV Europe Wendy VERY bluntly says "Prince FIRED us, he was ready for another change in his life". And Wendy and Lisa are VERY open to work with Prince again, but they want to create something NEW, not rehash the old music. A NEW collaboration between Prince, Wendy and Lisa would be AMAZING!!!

Thanks Everlasting for clearing THAT one up. I though the fact that they were fired was old news. I also agree with them making new music together instead of finishing Roadhouse Garden. The three of them have grown so much musically that it would be interesting what they came up with.
I STILL think his best work was when he was with Wendy, Lisa, and Susannah. W&L solo stuff is awesome..Girl Bros was beautiful.

I think everything was just just right till Susannah came in Prince's life: never mix emotion with business; deadly combination.
Besides, being Wendy's sister complicated the whole thing. Another reason could be that W & L were just contributing "too much" to Prince's sound, and he probably felt that he needed to see what he could still do by himself. Pity is that the album after Parade was basically songs recorded with them, and was a huge hit. After that , y'no what happened with the Black Album.
